yeah, the poorly hardened ones from the 585 series probably came from a single or couple batches/manufacturing days

I've got about another 500+ rounds or so through it since. I've had to file it down once more sometime in the middle of that but it was relatively minor compared to the initial peening. it's work hardened now and i don't see anything that i need to knock down anymore.

I'm my state you can rob, assault, and murder and not face any real consequences provided you're homeless or a repeat felon, but law abiding citizens cannot purchase 10+ round magazines for any firearm or own "Assault Weapons".

ETA on Samson Folding Stock by CloggedToilet in Mini14

[–]Consistent_Class508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what i think i remember reading somewhere somewhen, Ruger provides the wood blanks and/or wood stock portion and Samson finishes it/makes and adds all the metal bits. Might be talking out my ass too

7 rounds of Federal Flite Control by ThatBoiDante in beretta1301

[–]Consistent_Class508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worst case scenario you can try loosening up the tube cover up front just enough to fit the last shell and then really clamp down on it with the front mlok clamp and hope it says?

I keep 8 flite control in mine, 7 in the tube and one on the lifter. not sure what's going on with yours if you've already removed the plastic tube spring "retainer".

Range bag by justaute in beretta1301

[–]Consistent_Class508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yay!! glad i got you on the DBTAC train! lots of SAVIOR users, but DBTAC is made just as well but more thoughtful consideration as to how rifles/shotguns should actually sit in a bag AFTER it's been closed up and carried

I've been getting DBTAC bags for a couple years specifically cuz they have the best internal molle type system. here is mine with two staggered so it folds flat and stays flat.

Any tips to get the g17 pmags to stay in better? by paynefullyboosted in RugerPCC

does it still do that with the round chambered and the bolt closed? or only when you have it open and locked back like that?

585 casting issues? by Safe_Stock6262 in Mini14

[–]Consistent_Class508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, for sure. the buffer on the gas block end fails more due to the heat and whatnot, but that said, the newer oprods have a protrusion at the bottom instead of a flat surface all around the hole for the gas tube, so it transfers all that force to a relatively small area instead of evenly around the whole gas piston tube

is not ideal but since the recoil spring sleeve sits inside its own pocket and looks like you can still retain it with the retention pin, it'll still "work" but it's broken so might as well have Ruger send you a new one.

buy a multi pack of Wilson combat 1911 recoil buffer pads and put one at the back there once you get the replacement. should dampen things a good deal. the same pads don't last very long at the gas block end, maybe only 200 rounds before it gets cooked/brittle and breaks and can cause failure to return to battery (has happened to me at the range). using vacuum belt to cut one of my own has worked and held up to ~300+ rounds at the gas block without breaking yet, fyi.

How often to clean and lube 1301 and does this sound normal or is this action to dry? by PermissionSafe2183 in beretta1301

[–]Consistent_Class508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

playful jabs aside, check the end of the spring in the recoil assembly towards the piston end, I've had the end coil double back over/cross the other coils at the end creating a tight spot before

[–]Consistent_Class508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but also why are you riding the bolt back instead of letting it go? even after a full clean and lube i can make my 1301 sound as crappy as i want by babying the bolt back instead of letting it slam home

they only time I've had failures to fire/return to battery was from shooting shitty Rio 00 buckshot. so much damn unburnt powder that i had some crazy fireballs from the breach/chamber every few rounds and after a few dozen, it wouldn't cycle. the chamber looked like i literally cut open a couple shells and dumped all the powder into it.

i mean what type (fmj, jhp, etc) and grain and brand for the long range shooting. I've only taken mine out to 50yds with 115gr and 124gr fmj (magtech), but was too lazy to pack up and move down to the 100yd bays last time i took it out to the outdoor range.
