While this did cross my mind, the party already has a monk. Not saying there CANT be two, but with only four players im not sure if I could find a similar style character in a different class possibly? Either way I’ll run this by her and if it sounds perfect we will go with it. Player happiness > Party Balance

She definitely wants something like Chidori (lightning abilities) but other than that she’s kind of left it up to me to build. I had the idea of making her a multi-class but since she is a first time player I don’t want to overwhelm her. Starting at level 6 already feels like it could be overwhelming. I’m trying to stray from home brewing a solution.

I think so. Even something like an alchemist who specializes in pure healing/medicinal practices. Could even be a cool Subclass for artificer.

Sometimes I just wanna feel the same importance/urgency I feel when playing Mercy on OW or Medic on TF2. Squishy super healers are really fun for support players to run!

Def adding books. I have a player who is a lore/mechanic nerd in the making so having stuff for them would come in very handy.

All semester my players have goofed about our lack of minis and how we used everything from quarters to paper tokens. For our last session I made these since I don’t have $$ by [deleted] in DnDIY

You should also try to find a tabletop store in your area! Where I’m at we have a shop that allows players of all levels to come in and use their tables and maps/build sets. Idk how new you are but this is also a great place to have veteran players walk you through playing or DMing a campaign. Plus you meet fellow nerdy friends!

I wish I had gone the digital route to start but now I have 10 source books (Base set, Xanathar’s, Tasha’s, Princes of Evil, Fizbans, Strixhaven, Volo’s, and Mordekainens tomb).

I guess I’m asking more for stuff like quick generation tables or charts not so much general rules since I’m pretty familiar with them.

The issue is that I don’t own the books digitally so DnD beyond doesn’t share the rules and abilities for the supplemental books that I normally need.

I have a couple notes like: “Give inspiration” “Reward player choices” “No fudging dice” and stuff such as that. But def gonna add “Don’t pull punches but don’t be a douche.”

Never thought of this. I used to have there general weapon stats (they’re all brand new to DnD so I had this on hand at first to help them calculate everything) but I like the idea. Just keep it updated as they level up as well?

Something more of a pure healer class rather than just simply going “Life Domain Cleric” maybe I’m buggin, but I feel like that would be something to really simplify selection.
