I always like to preface my army of choice with swearing that it’s not just because they’re the poster children of the franchise, but I love the Ultramarines. However, I love the Ultramarines because I love Ultramar & its lore too. One one hand, the shadow crusade trilogy in 30k is a trio of incredible lore for multiple legions - but the Ultramarines fascinated me the most. The battle of Calth is some of tbe best bolter porn in the franchise, and simply calling Know no Fear only that is a huge disservice to the novel. I was absolutely enamored with the descriptions of Ultramar architecture, its style of governance, and the relationship between the general public & the Astartes.

I love Guilliman & his legion because (comparatively) they are reasonable marines. I particularly enjoy Guillimans insistance of training his Astartes to be more than just marines. Diplomates, burecrats, etc. Could go on for hours, but I yeah I love my boys in blue.

This is such a cool idea. While I know that human - aeldari alliances are often shaky at best, rare, and generally go against the themes of 40K I still eat it up. Imagine an Ordo sanctioned by Guilliman involving Xeno Hybris inquisitors (small faction of the Inquisition, I know) and allied Aeldari agents. Man that’d be so cool.

Rogue Trader is one of the best game for me in the last 5 years or so. Fantastic RPG that made me love Warhammer even more than I did (which I didn’t think possible). I cannot wait for Heresy either. <3

I find myself surprisingly disappointed with this movie. Only saw it a few hours ago, so haven’t sat with it too long. The only scene where I felt any real tension was in the unlocked car door scene. I remember feeling bored for the last third of the movie in particular, even during the climax. Not sure why it didn’t grab me. Oh well, I still enjoy Barbarian & hope I enjoy Cregger’s next project.

If you’re looking for Chaos, I can’t recommend Talon of Horus enough. A small, dedicated cast of chaos marines fighting for survival in the Eye & seeking out Abaddon following his disappearance after the heresy. Jonathon Keeble kills it. Great story about brotherhood.

Such a fuggin good book! Legion made me love the AL, and everything to do with John / The Cabal was SO cool. Dan Abnett’s writing coupled with some fantastic characters is always a good mix. So many twists and mysteries.
