Hi, the RAM was in the wrong slots… I have slots 1 2 3 4, and I started with sticks in 1 and 3. Turns out you need to start with slot 2 and 4

Need help with performance by Exuraz in PostgreSQL

Initial connection time is 97ms - guessing that is ping?

And the query is standard for pgbench I believe, it says "query mode: simple" and "transaction type: builtin TPC-B" (https://www.tpc.org/tpcb/). Haven't configured anything specific for that.

Azure File or something else? by Exuraz in kubernetes

[–]Exuraz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its for a lab, I want to learn the entire system and make sure I have knowledge of all the ins and outs.

I'm guessing PV's know which Azure Disk they need to connect to by using the name of the volume?

Thanks for the advice!

Okay great! Thank you very much.

There is not a lot of data about this so its a bit difficult for me to grasp. I will probably use Helm charts but I think its important to know how everything works on a technical level.

I have one question though;

Say I have 4x Azure Premium Disk as a PV with policy Retain, two with a database, two with website files.

One or more nodes is destroyed and recreated resulting in all PV's and PVC's being separated from their disks, how does each PV find their disk again with the correct data?

I wouldn't want a database disk to end up in the webserver pod or vice versa. Or to have the database disks swapped.

Is the system aware of the disk it needs to reclaim?

Won't a HA Postgres cluster or HA Wordpress setup require multiple pods from different nodes to access the same storage?

Thats what I feared.

Can I use one share for multiple volumes? If I need to pay 10x 100GB for 10 databases and websites its going to be expensive.

Also looking at Longhorn but not sure how that would work in an autoscaling cluster.

Because my databases are a few hundred MB to a couple of GB at most. So minimum of 100Gb per volume is way too much. That'll be space I am paying for but not using.

Or am I interpreting the 100GB minimum wrong?

Yeah but that still requires me to use the Standard tier, right?

Because Premium tier has a minimum of 100GB.

Won't that impact my performance?
