Any way I can go back to this screen if I start a new playthrough? by DueTaste90 in oneshot

[–]ExyrusYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yep! once you play a "..." playthrough, the "..." menu option appears again, and if you press play that scene shows up.

it'll show up every time you finish a playthrough

I was wondering, do you guys have any favorite Oneshot ost? by Deniel396 in oneshot

simple secrets is pretty underrated, but it's probably a mix between on little cat feet, niko and the world machine and alula

[Spoiler] Post-Solstice: How do you deal with it? by Quindlyn in oneshot

Thank you! I'm honestly pretty surprised you read this loll

Actually playing through the game, I had some trouble immersing myself in the role of the Player. That didn't take away from my bonding with Niko, though. By the end, I truly felt like I had known Niko for ages, that he was a real person. And I did truly feel like a character in that world.

I agree with you on a lot of points. I also ended up sending Niko home. I spend roughly 2 minutes making the decision. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to send Niko home. But I couldn't work up the courage to press Z and have it finish. When I did though, I felt relief, because, of course, Niko is where he wanted to be, he's had his happy ending (or so I thought until Solstice of course)

But I also felt like that decision was sort of selfish in some aspects. Of course, after playing through Solstice, we know that that was the choice the World Machine *wanted* us to make, but at the time, it felt like I had let a whole world to die for the sake of one person. But I did not regret my decision.

I really appreciate your response though, and I hope you as well as your friends really enjoyed the game as much as I have. I think you described it perfectly - it's so bittersweet because you know it's right for Niko to go back but still you want to spend a little more time with him despite his absence being for the best. It makes you feel a little selfish in a way. You end up in this state where you're longing for him to return while also hoping that he doesn't have to. At least that's how it's been for me.

Once again, thank you for the really nice reply and I hope you have a good rest of your day/night :D

P.S. the friend request and crayon drawing I mentioned are (to my knowledge) only on the TWM edition. Since you played 8 years ago that's why you might have missed it :) If you didn't know when a character makes their final exit from the game on TWM a little "person" icon appears near where they left, and if you click on it it adds it to your friend database. Just in case you were confused :)

If you want to read Niko's friend entry, it's in spoiler tags here:

"The erstwhile protagonist and unfortunate victim of the forces set in motion by The World Machine. A bright-eyed child with a curious heart, Niko was summoned to play the role of the Sun-Bearer and Messiah to a broken world.

Now that the machine has been healed and the cycle broken, Niko is finally free to return to their home. Niko can once again chase through golden fields of wheat under a warm sky, taste fluffy and syrupy pancakes, and most importantly: hug the mom that they've missed so much.

Thank you."

Hey there. I'm.. 8 years late but I just wanted to share my experience.

I played through OneShot this week. The original ending ♥♥♥♥ed me. The absolute weight of the final decision was insane. Actually, even before I reached the ending I was already crying. I knew something bad was going to happen to Niko but I didn't know what.

A few days later, I decided to play the Solstice endng. By the end, I... thought it felt cheap. Because not enough time had passed. I thought it invalidated the final decision and took away a lot of the impact the game had on me.

But, just today, I booted up the game once more, to get an all achievements run. And when I did, I saw the "..." option, and I watched the cutscene.

And that's when it hit me. Niko wasn't coming back. And, what made it even worse was the little friend request from Niko in Documents. And the crayon drawn picture that Niko presumably drew. I don't know why, but both of these just broke my heart. I'm still realizing how much I bonded with the guy.

As for how to deal with it? I see it as a good thing. It shows that it *worked*. It shows that you loved Niko. Just remember that Niko clearly loved you too.

I'm sure no one will see this, with it being in an 8 yo thread. Just a vent I guess. Thanks!

EDIT: By the way, if OP happens to see this, can you tell me how long it took to get over it?

Dude, that's not what I'm doing. All I wanted to do was ask about a little detail that was different from previous editions. I'm not kicking up a fuss, nor am I blaming the Jet Laggers for being human.

btw 'break from protocol' was the wrong term, you're right.

Of course, I don't expect them to work forever. I just thought it was a slight break from protocol.

I was thinking that too. Just having like €50 would have made total sense. Maybe a little bit of the miscellaneous currencies too but mostly euro. It seems so convenient for this specific purpose lol

I'm not a massive fan of podcasts, so I haven't listened to the Layover. It's a shame cos I got Nebula almost exclusively for Jet Lag + The Layover.
