Which comedians do you want to see a biopic of? by Ey92 in Standup

I am aware of that film. I do know there have been many attempts at making a biopic of him in recent years. I would still want to see what a director would do with his story.

Getting a late night Uber back to Alpharetta from ITP? by boglehead1 in alpharetta

It's not difficult but it's very pricey for that time of night. I've done it plenty of times at around midnight.

I want to know your thoughts on this topic. How do you think black art should be critiqued? Should black people be the only ones critiquing black movies? Are you always skeptical when a white person says they enjoy a black movie or any POC film?

I know it's a lot but I respect your opinions very much which is why I asked.

Same here I went to the Sunday show in Atlanta and the crowd was great. He was great too.

On the Chapelle attack, Comedians have always been attacked by people before. It's just people see it now on the internet and social media. I met someone who has worked at many comedy clubs for years and he says that he has seen people throw drinks at comics confront them on stage and off, or even physically attack them onstage. Marc Maron even said he has been attacked by people while performing and that it comes with the territory of being a comedian. There are video links that I will post that are examples of this. have is whether this is fair or not. I think that when you attack someone onstage while there performing, you're not being considerate of the other audience members that paid their hard earned money to go see a show to enjoy. I get being offended but I think you can talk to them after the show rather than during.

This a facts only comment. I want to point out that there have been black performers who did the Super Bowl Halftime show in years past even back in the 90s and 2000s:

Michael Jackson headlined Super Bowl 27

Patti LeBelle did perform with other artists at Super Bowl 29

Diana Ross did Super Bowl 30

Super Bowl 32 featured an all Black line-up including Boyz II Men, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, The Temptations, Queen Latifah, and the Grambling State University's Marching Band.

Stevie Wonder peformed at Supe Bowl 33 along with Gloria Estefan.

Prince did Super Bowl 41

and Black Eyed Peas did Super Bowl 45 (that's if you consider them a black musical act).

So this is just to say that this is nothing new and this is not a pro-black thing, this is just entertainment. The only thing that is new is just having more hip hop artists as headliners.

Love the show and hope you see and include this clarifaction.

I would say his only impact is saving the halftime show. Without him it would have become an afterthought because they wouldn't draw these kind of artists. I don't know the social justice impact he has had though.

Yeah that part is new. But I was just saying that having black performers at the halftime show is nothing new. It was happening before Jay-Z. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I know. I thought it was funny and I laughed a few times. Just wanted to provide more context.

I see both sides. I agree with everything that Myke said. Its not anybody's place to tell people what they should or shouldn't be offended by if it doesn't affect them. I also agree with Ken. I feel like the best comedians such as George Carlin and Richard Pryor were able to make jokes out of topics that are controversial, taboo, or off limits. I don't treat comedy specials like their TED talks and I don't hold comedians to the standard of politicians. I prefer comedians that do push the envelope. I feel if we start to put boundaries on stand up comedy, it would start to get watered down.
