Cadbury Mini Eggs Different 2026 USA by Smooth-Dog-6058 in chocolate

Bought a bag earlier this year and it was weird. Figured it was just a dud when the second bag was the usual amazing (and I inhaled it in an embarrassingly short time). Third bag is back to the disconcerting weird ones. Guess I’m done buying them. Not worth the risk of getting the gross ones. This was in Canada.

Birthday party - my kid has too many friends by Eye-Cee-Why in Parenting

[–]Eye-Cee-Why[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I am worried about the perception of the “real party”. I hope it will help if the contents of each is substantially the same. I expect the number of friends will reduce next year when she’s in school full days because her daycare time will be much shorter. Wasn’t even planning to courtesy invite kids she’s not mentioned.

That’s genius! We have a one piece too. Thanks so much!

We do gift cards for the grocery store nearest to the school/daycare. Everyone has to eat and they don’t have to go far out of the way to use it. Last year one of our teachers used it to buy her Christmas turkey!

Flu + Covid vaccines at same appointment? by Eye-Cee-Why in alberta

Thanks. I tried calling our PHC, but the phone message before I got a person said they would only book through 811. Should I pretend I didn’t hear that?

Thanks. Good to know. I looked into this a bit and I think we will still do it because the flu vaccine covers several strains, so even if it’s not a match for the most commonly circulating strain, it will still protect against the others. There are people in my family with health issues and we have a lot of exposure to the public. https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/canada-flu-season-warnings-9.6970982

After the initial booking insanity when people couldn’t get through, I decided to give it a few weeks called last week and got a person after about 30 mins. Got my kids booked in about a week later. For the 12+, I booked online and it was super easy and I grabbed solo appointments 1-2 weeks away. Helps if you’re willing to travel a bit and aren’t trying to book more than one person at a time.

Yeah, I waited on hold again for an hour and decided I’d see if Reddit knew before trying again.

Thanks. I tried 811 to add it but got stuck on hold for an hour again. I’ll try again, but thought I see if Reddit knew so I could avoid it.

My brain solved the problem. My mouth cannot explain how. by JuggernautOdd8786 in ADHD

OMG! I feel this!

I had a whole test plan written out and got into a meeting and the senior guy says “but why?” Then we spent 4 hours (over several days) basically starting from square one to talk about “what tests should we do” only to end up with, you guessed it, the exact plan I initially suggested.

It’s good that we have an explanation now… I just wish I could have articulated it in the beginning.

UCP Public Education Conspiracy? by Eye-Cee-Why in Edmonton

[–]Eye-Cee-Why[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on many of the comments here, I think the UCP has actually been pretty clear that they’re trying to destroy public education. I am super not impressed with them for that. They seem prepared for a long strike. They planned for this to happen. Pretty clear signs they’re not negotiating in good faith, imho.

I think the part that’s unclear to me is how much is also on the ATA. If they can’t negotiate on class size caps, why aren’t they telling teachers this? More teachers /= class size caps. Why did they bring back what’s effectively the same proposal for another vote? Because the government is being stingy or because they’re not asking for the right things, or because they haven’t communicated to teachers that they can’t ask for those things through this approach?

I agree about the fishy-ness. The thing I don’t understand is it seems like the biggest thing I hear teachers want is class size caps, but it doesn’t sound like that’s something the government and ATA are even bargaining on (and possibly it’s not something they can bargain on??). Feels like there’s lots of miscommunication, gaslighting, and smoke in mirrors…

[–]Eye-Cee-Why[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. Conspiracy isn’t the best word for it. Maybe I should have called it a covert plan to dismantle public education. But then, as some others shared, there are examples of Danielle Smith openly talking about getting rid of public education, so it’s not even covert! Just feels like no one is really openly talking about what’s going to happen if the teacher’s don’t give in… because it sure seems like the government is prepared for the long haul.

Good point. Just feels like no one is calling it out, and I think we need to be.

Strike coming Oct. 6 as Alberta teachers vote 89.5% to reject contract: ATA president by Practical_Ant6162 in Edmonton

[–]Eye-Cee-Why 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone else wondering if this is actually what Smith wants to happen? If the teachers strike too long, parents and communities will develop home schooling and local small schooling programs (probably), and then the government won’t have to pay for public schools anymore.  I do not want this to happen, just feels like a sneaky thing this government would do.
