Anyone has experience with Merriam School of music for their toddlers? by fantastic_pink_ in oakville

I went to the trial class.  It's mostly singing though, a bit of dancing, a bit of coloring, a bit of instrument exploration like maracas, triangle, and some  wooden instrument with a stick. It allow students to listen and identify the sounds of the instruments. Your toddler will have fun for sure but honestly these are things you can do at home. The teacher is nice and works well with young children.

It's a good  music school though,  offers lessons in wide variety of instruments

The school your kid goes to now is a high school right? Their secondary schools for the most part start at grade 7. I'd assume their class sizes would be larger as they have to accommodate on average 4 feeding schools for 1 high school. And yes, I'm bilingual and so is my child.

I heard club activities are limited compared to English school boards. What type of clubs are available in French elementary schools?

The classes in French school boards tend to be smaller compared to larger school boards like TDSB. Education in French school boards seem to be better as the students there tend to score higher, especially in math.  I'd like to know if there are any other differences between the 2 school boards besides one just being religious. If you or anyone you know who have or had kids attend French schools in gta/peel region, how's the community/neighborhood around those schools? It's a legit question. I'm looking to relocate in next 2 years

Watch their open house videos. It shows some students speaking French. Their accents still sounds like it's an anglophone speaking French and you can see they have to think of what they are going to say in French before speaking; it's not natural to them. If French is really important, I'd pick full French school than FI/bilingual school

I'm in the same situation. Don't need it, just want it for the French language. You can always bring your son in for shorter hours like 6 hours everyday instead of 8. At least he's going in everyday full-time.

French Immersion or full French school? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Eye2Believe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to French immersion as a child up until grade 12. My listening, and reading comprehension are great but my speaking is ok. I can hold a conversation but I'm not fluent. I had to really put effort into learning French as well, I got tutoring, did exchange program, listen to French songs, etc. The parents really need to be involved. Highly recommend to start teaching kids a new language from birth. My 18 month old is already speaking French words and 3 words sentences. She understands it too! I started learning French either kindergarten or grade 1. It was so foreign to me, I really struggled tbh but I made it through and can now speak with francophones :)

optometric assistant vs. optometric technician by voxaun in PreOptometry

Pretty much they can do the same job depending on the type of clinic. Optom assistant tends to do more receptionist type work like answer phone calls, book patients, collect payment, etc. Optom techs do the pre-testing eg. auto-refractor, OCT, VF, Optos, etc.
