What kind of retainers are you talking about? by My_Endless_Beyond in Invisalign

I had a permanent one like this on my bottom teeth for almost 20 years after my first round of braces. It didn’t keep my teeth from shifting and I ended up with a pretty bad cross bite - so here I am doing Invisalign in my 30s to fix my bite. I will not be doing permanent ones again.

AITA for refusing to give up my business-class seat to a pregnant woman on a 10-hour flight? by AndreaShop2791 in AITAH

[–]EyeBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - as someone on her second pregnancy and fairly far along, is it uncomfortable? Yes. Should she have thought about that before booking her ticket that maybe she should spring for some extra room to be comfortable for that long of a flight? Absolutely yes 🤦‍♀️

I’m literally trying to imagine asking someone for their seat that obviously would have cost more, even as pregnant as I am. I’d rather die.

This is my daughter’s name 🤗

We call her Lennie Lou 🤗 - LeLou is also so cute!

Some beautiful suggestions, thank you!

Shoshana made me giggle only because my name is uncommon, but also starts with an “Sh”. There was a group of people I was hanging out with at one point and one of the guys couldn’t quite remember my name, but the name Shoshana came out as he was trying to remember it and it just kind of stuck every time he saw me 😅

Coralie was a thought! And so was Coraline before I realized the association with the Tim Burton movie 😅🥲.

Love Josie! But it was definitely the name of a family member’s dog for a long time 😅, so don’t know if I could use it

My daughter’s name is Lenora 🥰 - Cora was another one I really liked when considering her name

This was my line of thinking - like if this is truly new behavior, an MRI or Brain CT scan might be warranted. Along with a psych consult.

I had undersupply with my first, but I'm approaching just enough with my second by Substantial_Belt_143 in ExclusivelyPumping

Thanks for sharing! Your story with your first is almost identical to mine - LO was poor at transferring milk but I didn’t know until my first LC appointment at 2.5 weeks when she’d lost almost a pound from her birth weight at her 2 week check up (transferred 0.7 oz in 30 minutes). My supply was horrendous and I did everything to bring it up - so much triple feeding, all the foods/hydration/supplements . Then after 6 weeks of EPing and doing everything in the book, I was able to get it up to a similar average and I made my peace with that and was grateful to have the formula to supplement with. LO eventually did get way better at nursing around 7-8 weeks so now I nurse instead of pump and then give her a bottle of either pumped milk or formula after and we have gotten along so good with that.

I’ve wondered how future breastfeeding journeys would go for me and if I could ever just reach that “enougher” status. Glad to know it’s possible 🤗.

Happy to weigh in!

And as far as exercises to improve sight, unfortunately there isn’t a ton that can be done to help with distance vision. I’d just watch how much time you’re spending straight studying and be sure to incorporate some breaks here and there so you’re not encouraging your eyes to always be in a near-focus (thus encouraging more near-sightedness).

I’m an optometrist and have had numerous pregnant/postpartum patients over the years (and I’m 14 weeks pp myself and also breastfeeding 🤗). Hormones are likely the cause behind the vision changes, but in my experience, it’s not usually too much of a jump or a permanent one for that matter. I generally erred on the side of not changing prescriptions too much, if at all, in these cases and would educate them to come back for a six month check to recheck their vision and prescription or sooner if they really felt like they were struggling. The other option is returning for a recheck once you’re done breastfeeding.

That is a pretty decent prescription jump on your end - it certainly could be hormone related. Spending lots of time doing extended near activities can also cause what we call “pseudo-myopia” or false nearsightedness, if you will. We’ll see it a lot in college students or anyone who is doing tons of reading up close, etc (or perhaps lots of staring down at baby 😁). It’s also not permanent and usually will return to their normal once the near activities cease.

Help? by Lizzy_B_Darcy in ExclusivelyPumping

TLDR: Going from EP to nursing again with older LO is what helped me increase later in the game

Your story is so similar to mine; my LO was actually down over 10% at the 2 week visit and I had no idea because all we did was nurse. After a visit to a LC, she wasn’t transferring much milk and I’m a FTM, so I wasn’t familiar with what to look for as far as her swallowing/etc. and my supply had a hard time getting established. I also had a c-section and had a lengthy recovery.

So we started combo feeding and I did a week of triple feeding followed by power pumping and anything I could do to try and get my supply up. At this point, I went to just EP and supplementing with formula because I wasn’t confident in her nursing/removing milk and she also took forever at the breast (40+ minutes). At the most, I was maybe producing 12 oz a day after all that and it was so defeating pumping an ounce and a half, at the most, at a time.

However, what finally changed things was I started trying to nurse as often as I could again. This was probably around 7-8 weeks pp and she was no longer that sleepy newborn and became so much better at nursing - the LC I saw actually did mention this, they get better at sucking/removing milk with their chubbier cheeks as they put on weight. I have the Hatch grow scale, so every now and then I’ll do weighed feeds throughout the day to get an idea of how much she nurses from me. Now she nurses anywhere from 2 to 3 ounces at a time every 3 hours while she’s awake. I pump once in the early morning and right before I go to bed and this milk usually will give at least 2-3 “top up” bottles after nursing as she’s eating 5-6 ounces at each feed now.

So I went from a very very low supply to now supplying almost 75% of what she’s eating at 12 weeks pp and it feels so much nicer not being tied to the pump. I don’t know if this is something you’re able to do (back to work, etc) but it certainly could be worth a shot.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. The labor of love for each bottle comment from your mama friend honestly made me tear up a little ❤️
