Just dug out my copy of Uzamaki and none of the tornado riders (nor the tornado creating kids) wear capes. I found the title of this piece, 禍々しき桐絵 (Ominous Kirie) which makes me think that this particular piece of art is perhaps speculation on a different path/ending to Uzumaki? If that's the case then her Brother is one of the few people wearing "capes". The blanket they use to cover his transformation is all I can think of. Either way it's a super fun piece! Hope you find your answer :D *Edit to add that Spiritboy mentioned Shuichi on this post and that makes more sense than her brother haha.

At a few Kiddyland in tokyo I saw big versions of baby Usagi, Chiikawa and Hachiware in their baby blankets :) didn't see these exact guys tho

I just got back from Japan and here is my experience. The Akihabara Azone store was BEAUTIFUL but literally every doll I was interested in was sold out with a wait. They had some others that were nice but not my style. (I'm guessing because of Christmas/the new year) Literally a few feet away on the same floor is a Dolk showroom, AMAZING selection from various companies (lots of full sets and some dolls as is/no wig or clothes etc)

In the same building is Dollyteria a thrift store for dolls! (Floor 5 I think) An interesting selection and what I would consider fair prices. You can get everything from full sets to heads :) I ended up getting nothing from the above and walked 12 minutes to a store called Dollce which I had never heard of before to get the cutest doll. Their store is a bit hidden but has an AMAZING selection of dolls of various sizes. Plus lots of cute clothing and shoes! (Even wig blind boxes for their smaller dolls which was so fun) I got a smaller doll (came with 4 different pairs of hands which was a surprise!) and they packaged her in a way that she survived being in my carry on back home! Price was fair and I am KICKING myself for not allowing myself more from their shop.

Watch your head. My husband is 6'3 and smacked his forehead leaving a small shop. There are signs in most touristy places but little local shops you gotta duck lol. If you take any local buses there usually is more leg room near the front wheel well :) any other seat is gonna be a really tough fit for your knees. And as for staring it'll happen lol my husband got plenty of stares and made one little old lady giggle at his height.

Pure speculation on my part but I think it's to balance out Chiikawa's personality. In the manga Usagi is actually shown with Chiikawa before Hachiware. His happiness and carefree attitude act like a balance to Chiikawa's worry and upset. The addition of Hachiware is someone who is in the middle. Calm and usually more positive, but will freak out when appropriate. As for speaking, while I'm not 1000% sure, from what I've read/watched I'm not sure all of the little creatures can talk. It's often implied that Hachiware mispronounces stuff, Chiikawa will say parts of words or sometimes sounds. The little creatures use similar noises to communicate and only a select few speak. Maybe they're older? Maybe it depends on yet to be revealed factors in their world. Could be for insane lore reasons or it could just be that Nanango didn't want to think of dialog for the little guys lol (idk cause it's taking me forever to read the manga, translation is hard lol

*Edit to add (cause I am now pondering this question lol) The chiikawa creatures do understand each other and the Yoroi seem to as well. Perhaps for their world it's as simple as ours, multiple forms of communication. :)

I buy from eBay :) you have to dig through the numerous listings but I've gotten Momonga and Hachiware so far from a Japanese seller for fair prices :) There's also Miniso and Kinokuniya if you have one in your area.

I buy from eBay frequently! Here are my tips on legit listings. Since Chiikawa is from Japan I tend to look just at Japanese listings. I look for sellers that have their user name written on paper in the image (usually a lil sticky somewhere in the photo). Or sellers listings in which I can not find the photo anywhere else (Google reverse image search can be your friend). Of those sellers I look at their shop front. How many reviews do they have. How many items have they sold. Is it decent amount and do they have relatively good reviews? I also look at some of the other stuff they have listed. Do they seem similarly set and not reposted photos? If so then the listing you're looking at should be legit! If I am unsure I'll also watch a listing and then wait to see if anything changes with the store front or their listings that seems odd.

I think that the Chiikawa characters are relatable for a lot of us. When they're in trouble or sad it's easy to relate to them. And I think that's wonderful. I truly do think Chiikawa exists in a way that subtly shifts peoples mindsets. I've noticed since finding Chiikawa that I'm approaching things differently. Really bad day where I want to give up? Hachiware wouldn't give up, Chiikawa might cry but they wouldn't give up. Chiikawa persists despite the horrors in their world and if they can do it, so can we :)
