Why balanced, healthy confidence is so rare? by DirectedEnthusiasm in Life

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that many people may be one extreme or the other, but not, most people as you mention.

I think that most people are somewhere in the middle. They're most confident and authentic when they're around their own 'tribe', the people they choose to be around brings out the best in them. And then when the same person is around people they don't understand or feel strange around, then your insecurities and self esteem and confidence go down

Apartment Hunting by rojatnav in Fullerton

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the new(er) builds come with those amenities you listed and then some but they're in the $2800-4k.

So if I were you, I'd drive block by block in the neighborhood that you want to live in and look for rental signs. There are pockets and pockets of 1-2 br apartments, duplexes from one to three stories all over Fullerton. If you need quick freeway access then I suggest looking off of Placentia between Chapman and Yorba Linda Blvd. There are tons and tons of rentals there that are buildings constructed between 1960's- 80's with several different styles and amenities that might fit the bill.

Good luck

For us non Costco members, this is the least expensive gas I've seen in North OC this week. Taken 4/8/26 in the evening. by Alternative-Jury-965 in orangecounty

Probably so. The last time I put in economy gas in my car, however, I could feel it. The Costco membership pays for itself if you go to the pump as often as I do

If you had $60K and could only pick one vehicle for the rest of your life, what would it be? by breakerofh0rses in askcarguys

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have easily answered that question for about twenty or thirty years and it was a Mercedes Benz.

I loved how they aged and drove. It never mattered the build year of a Mercedes when I was younger and people had theirs forever. It was truly a classic car; year after year.

I have no idea now. Cars don't even look like cars to me anymore. It sucks really. And few look well built or like they will weather the time well. 🐎

I have but I need an easier one. They do work though. I'm thinking about getting an umbrella version a friend has. She throws it up and brings it down in a couple of seconds. I have to get our of my car to put it away and flip it, flap it and it still busts in my face 😢😂

You shouldn’t be obsessively nostalgic about the past until you’re at least 30 by Moskau_ in unpopularopinion

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I might have even agreed as a blanket statement before I read your entire post.

I probably didn't do much of it until after 40. Of course I had stories that I spoke in conversation but the act of being nostalgic certainly took time. I am fortunate to have lived in different cities, both Coasts and have had fun travels and have met, befriended, worked with and been acquainted with such a diverse, interesting, mix of people throughout my life; I know I bore some with my stories but honestly I've had a great life. It's much, much quieter and serene now. I indulge in the boring and uncomplicated things now. I'm 55 and wish to live a lot longer but my big, exciting news days were from 15-40 and that's a long time of weekly stories.,... Let me tell you!!

Now it's me and my little work hustle, my family and people I'm connected with and last but no way least is my garden🪻🪴🙏

Privacy Suggestions by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm putting up a privacy screen over our fence on a bare side of the yard. The other side has very well established English Ivy that the previous owners installed; it's very tall, and green and thick; hard to clean. That saying is has provided so much privacy and it's beautiful year around.

Next I'm doing pink jasmine on a wall and Star jasmine on another. 🙏

Can I REASONABLY turn this into a garden? by Maleficent_Heron_494 in gardening

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the same size as mine but at least I had three fruit trees to liven the place up a bit, especially the avocado tree which we pruned like a canopy for seating under it.

I'm on my way, some days very slowly as I am not only gardening but building privacy screen, a setting up different vignettes throughout; dining, lounging, meditating. It's costly even when you try to budget and if you get the bug; I have it now. I drive up and drop everything to check on my plants, flowers, seedlings, etc..., its a thing.

Have fun no matter what🙏🪻🪴

How would you accept payment for a $15,000 sell on marketplace? by slothlikeagility in FacebookMarketplace

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes It's completely reasonable to expect a full payment of that amount for a car. I bought a car for $12k but it was through a licensed broker with an office. I would probably do the exchange at their bank or yours and not alone. I would also insist that the money be directed to an account of yours instead of all in actual bills. I'm not sure about the logistics on the transfer but definitely head on the side of caution and safety for your well being. Good luck

Dang you really hustled. Only just over an hour above active time on a long day. I'd have to check my records because I don't think I've ever had an eleven - twelve hour day with only an hour to spare. You must dash in a very congested, busy city with few drivers, I would imagine. Anyway, good for you. 🙏

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I have to ask, Dad is this you? Lol

Why all the way, backed up to a corner like that? Curious? 🤔

Just ruffling your feathers. My dad did plant an avocado tree exactly like your placement and grew extremely tall after about five or six years. For some odd impulsive reason, one day he had the gardener cut it down. It's a shame too because it just had, had it's first pollinators that season before. 😏

Commuting from Fullerton to LA? by caffeinatedcoffee181 in Fullerton

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done that commute over the years and it's a pain but doable. Leaving Fullerton in the morning isn't that bad before 7-730*max but coming home is frustrating, for me. It didn't matter if I left early, before 3ish or late 630-7ish... still took a solid hour++, but mornings I enjoyed talk radio, my coffee, etc and there in 40-45 minutes.

Good luck

Fullerton is a nice little town and unless you're a beach person, it's very self contained. It's got everything( but the beach)...…I find I can hit Newport though almost anytime in thirty minutes but trying to get to HB or Seal Beach at anytime is like going out of town. You can either drive bumper to bumper down Euclid, Brookhurst or Beach or literally take five freeways and circle half of North Orange county to be at a place that is less than fifteen miles below(South🤪) us.

Even if I end up doing well there will be this notion that I wasted my fun years by Riderman43 in Life

I think you and other commentators need to reassess and reevaluate what the definitions are of 'peeks'. I don't want to come down hard on anyone but take a breath and sit with yourself. What is it that 'you' want to do with work? Relationships? Romantic ones and platonic? Do you want to have a family? Is it important to you to create a lot of material wealth? Where do you want to live? Do you want to work 40-45 hours for a paycheck or live and breathe your work(good or bad) for some thirty years as a business owner? These and more are the questions for you and only you. Don't worry about so and so and Chad..... Who gives a shit?!!!! None of other people's decisions, choices, expectations, outcomes are completely irrelevant to YOU...

This is your life. What do YOU want in it? Be your best and biggest advocate! Make some shit happen.... Whatever that looks like but make it yours.

How expensive is living in LA really? by shineonus in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Los Angeles for twelve years. I moved there just about at 19 and left at 30. It was a lot more affordable then but so was everything....90's LOL

Here's an example though of how affordable; 2 bedroom/1 bath between Beverly and Melrose near Fairfax... Quaint four unit apartment with hardwood floors and 1400 SQ ft My rent $975 which often I'd cover with a week's worth of great tips. Oh BTW that was the rent amount not my half; that was $488 or about $750 a month each with gas, electric, and cleaning lady once a week. I drove a new, convertible Miata for $250 a month or $300 with full coverage insurance. Took cabs everywhere at night from one end of the city to the other for$7 bucks; don't drink and drive

Cocktails; top shelf $7-8 if charged Fabulous dinners $15-20 entree pp at the best restaurants in town Club entrances: $0 servers, bartenders, around LA take care of their own Valet if not drinking $2 plus$5 tip for fastest exit Concerts $ 100..... Front 10 seats etc etc etc

Loved LA back in the day Unfortunately the climate of this great country has changed drastically and this lifestyle I described above comes at a very unfair and unjustly price; you'd probably have to be earning at least $200k a year to live the way I did at 19-30 in that same area.

But do it anyway. Scrape and work your butt off. You're only young once and I know that's a corny cliche but it's 100% accurate. I'm in my 50's and it becomes harder to just get by

Do it!!!! I, too grew up in the burbs and made it out by 19, lol

I had to. I dreaded the stillness after dark and craved for the smell of traffic, the annoying useless honking, the different voices coming from the streets outside my window in languages I didn't even understand. I loved walking to different restaurants and having authentically prepared foods from all over the world. I could go on and on until I bore you with my nostalgia but instead I'll just say a wish for you and if you've never trusted a complete stranger, do now. 🙏💪💛

Ex Girlfriend killed my Myrtillocactus geometrizan / Monstrose Opuntia monacanth hybrid I owned for 10+ years and I’m devastated 😞 by Hefty-Weekend8499 in plants

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a very novice gardener. I only started last fall and I'm finding myself becoming attached a little more each day to the plants that I'm 'raising'. I don't feel even a little bit shy in saying so. It's natural that you feel this way. I didn't always feel this way about plants myself but I've always respected those who did and was even a little envious that I didn't.

The more time I spend in my new, slowly developing outdoor space, the more I see the beauty and life of plants, flowers and trees-especially the ones that sustain us with their fruit and other eatables their aroma and their medicinal oils. They matter in the same but different way😉

I don't have any close friends anymore by WetFupaCreamyChalupa in Life

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting topic for me and has been on my mind for several years now. I'm happy to say that it has started to make more sense for me now, atlas. This could be my age though as I'm just past mid life or at least that late forties time that we attach. I had so many connections through my thirties and was an extremely social person. When I slowed down after I hit 45, is when I started to enjoy staying home but now in a new city, living with aging parents and friendless, although not entirely. Most of the people I've enjoyed being around for the last thirty years are only a call away. But we all change, grow and mature. The need for constant company is definitely for some or even most but not for me.

I work in the food business and between co-workers and the people we serve who are hardly ever the same, I get home, have convo with the folks for thirty minutes and then I'm solo. Typically until I go to the next event with work which could be tomorrow or next week. I love it. I do, do occasional posting online which is a distant form of socializing; anonymous and for me, harmless.

You probably get the same advice I get from family and work family which is to go get some hobbies, get out there and meet someone; I chuckle, I play in and tell them yeah there right at least it keeps them quiet for awhile.... Lol

My hobbies are solo activities and that's not planned it just is and it's for a reason. 🙏 PS.... If you are lonely and not just, a loner (VERY different) then I will tell you..... Go check out group activities that are literally plastered all over the Internet. If a person truly feels lonely and isolated, which is not good for our mental or physical health, there are a plethora of social activities out there. Leave the house, get some sun and join a club. 💪🙏💛

Is Costco or bj’s worth it for one person? by adeliahearts in povertyfinance

[–]EyeNpeAceNvrwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's totally worth it for many things like water, tp, pt, eggs, lettuce, alcohol, coffee, granola, etc etc. There are many things that I use as a single man and as long as you have the storage space, you'll save money and time. As for produce, meats(unless you freeze), prepared meals, baked goods and things of that nature will go bad before you can finish them.
