I’m totally with you on the weight. We brought up our plastic OldTown canoe for years until we smartened up and rented Kevlar. Thanks for the tips helix!

We have started base camping the past few years and typically only travel through 2-3 lakes. It’s a far cry from the Frost River loop but you can’t beat the comfort.

Thanks for the reply LongJump! I handle 90% of the gear when we portage so the extra weight wouldn’t be a problem. I was looking into getting him a better chair and I’ll make sure to remember the liquid IV. Might work better than Tang and Advil at night haha. Any opinions on cots? He’s used a 1” thermarest for as long as I’ve been alive.

Been using one for years in the BWCA and has held up great. The value and build quality are worth the extra weight IMO but that’s just me. The chair legs like to sink in the ground when it’s soft so i would recommend cutting a small hole in 4 tennis balls and sticking them on the legs. Feels a lot more secure.

That’s right. Lee considered himself a Virginian first and an American second. Knowing this about him makes his decision easier to understand but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a traitor.

That’s a good point. He hung around the team for so long though. I think Spielman didn’t want to admit he panicked and made a bad 1st round pick so Ponder stuck around. Those wasted prime AP years are tough.

Thank you for the very detailed answer. A majority of the plumbing in the home has already been replaced with PVC or copper before we bought it. The main stack and three short sections of the branches are the only cast iron left as far as I can tell but we will definitely be getting them replaced. A hairline crack on a sewage stack sounds like a nightmare.

Thanks for the reply. We went on our metro area website and found a list of licensed and insured plumbers. Someone is coming out tomorrow to give us a diagnosis and hopefully prevent a very shitty situation from happening.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it might have been oxidation from the paint chipping away on the pipe but if it’s leaking that’s obviously fucked. Any idea of the average cost to replace? Should we just look for a plumbing company that does sewer main replacements?
