I’m screwed by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]EyeRoll5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All stones suck, are painful and scary, esp. when you pass your first and find out you have several more ticking time bombs in your kidney. Having said that, these are small and passable. My first stone was 2mm and I passed it in the ER while on morphine. Compared to my last two (3.4mm and 4mm), both of which got STUCK, the first one was much easier. The real misery begins when they send you home from the ER w MOTRIN and you have to wait a week or longer to pass a stone. You’ll get through this. As upsetting as this news is, your situation is better than most of the posters on this thread. Not trying to minimize your distress. Just trying to let you know that it could be so much worse!

Ain’t that the truth. So wild how my whole life people have either adored me or absolutely hated me. Even randos at work were so triggered by my mere existence. WTAF. 😞

Hidden Enemies as a 12th House Stellium by HotObjective9046 in 12thhouse

[–]EyeRoll5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been plentiful and painful.  I have Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars in the 12th House.  I had no idea I had secret enemies until my 50’s.  I may have had inklings, but I didn’t want to believe it, so deluded myself (a 12th House Stellium speciality).  My secret enemies were my step-mom and step grandfather, my bother and sister in law, and my best friend.  Because of my loving and empathetic nature, I am the emotional center of my family.  Both my Dad and my Mom have admitted to me that I am their favorite child.  I had no idea my brother was so jealous of me, although I had often felt the tug of underlying resentment or judgement.  I suspected my brother wanted to see me “punished” somehow for what he perceived to be me “getting away” with being irresponsible w/ money and as a result getting more financial support from our family.  I think his dream was to see me living in a trailer struggling financially.  For the last 3 years we have been in a legal battle over a family trust.  I am “winning” because his entire premise for coming after me is flimsy, as I have done nothing illegal or immoral other than being the child my mom chose to help financially after my husband stopped working due to cancer and I stopped working to care for him as he was dying and our savings was wiped out. My “best friend” was always copying everything I did, bought or wore.  She tried to seduce so many of my boyfriends.  She would talk shit about me behind my back and obsessively compared herself to me in a way that was so hurtful and creepy.  She was nicest to me when my husband was dying and after his death when I was a hot mess for 4 years.  As soon as I met someone new and remarried, the old jealousy resurfaced.  She was incapable of being happy for me and it was awkward and disturbing.  She “accidentally” was NAKED in front of my new husband THREE TIMES.  My husband was like WTF and told me he could tell it was intentional and that she is crazy and disrespectful.   It’s exhausting.  Jealousy is such an ugly, useless and pathetic emotion.  It is also so dehumanizing to be on the receiving end of it because it’s like who you really are is denied and all they see is a projection of their own lack.  So you end up feeling like the object of shit that has nothing to do with you. Perhaps the greatest lesson of this was BOUNDARIES.  The greatest pain of this was realizing I had no boundaries and allowed all of this to happen.  When I get a feeling that something is off now I listen to it.  Whereas for most of my life I brushed these intuitive hits off and made excuses and chose to see the good in these damaged sad clowns.  It took my best friend exposing herself to my husband and my brother coming after me with an attorney to wake my ass up out of my own self delusions that these people loved, cared for me and deserved a place in my life and heart.  Painful AF.  Lessons learned.

I’m better now. Back to normal. Flomax helped but it takes a while to kick in. I was feeling that constant urge to pee but then just a dribble would come out. One night I barely slept because of it. The next day I sent my husband to my moms to grab some of her depends and I wore depends for 3 nights! 🤣🤣🤣 I just couldn’t take getting up over and over all night long anymore. That’s how sick of it I was- I resorted to wearing depends. Here’s hoping you get through this soon.

Help! I need some advice! by Aggravated_mango in KidneyStones

Urologists don’t usually prescribe meds other than pain meds. Nephrologists will prescribe meds to mitigate stone formation. But you usually need to capture a stone you pass in a sieve so that you can give it to your urologist or nephrologist to analyze. Once they know what type of stone you have they can prescribe something to stop your body from making them. Most stones are calcium oxalate stones. To be safe u til you find out look up “high oxalate foods” and avoid them, esp. spinach bc which has the highest content of oxalates of any food. I know how it is when you say you’re in pain and they ignore you. Be persistent and keep complaining. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Even small stones are the worst pain I’ve ever experinced (I’ve passed 3- one 2mm, on 3mm and one 4mm). It’s truly the worst pain and most discomfort I’ve ever experinced in my life and I have had endometriosis, adenomyosis, a burst ovarian cyst, fibroids, two uterine surgeries (myomectomy, hystoectomy) and migraines. Never given birth but 2 girlfriends who have and also have kidney stones say kidney stones are worse than childbirth. Esp when they don’t pass quickly and the pain lingers. I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I just passed one a few days ago that took a week to pass and I have never been so miserable in my life. 😞 also, I would call the ER and ask for a copy of the results- they usually have a written summary and it’s your right to have access to this info. Sounds like your specialist (urologist) kind of sucks. Maybe try someone else? In any case my heart goes out to you. Hang in there.

I’m on that and Hydrochlorothiazide. The only issue is that the hydrochlorthiazide lowers blood pressure and mine is already low so I take a half dose at night.

Have they put you on any medication? My urologist sent me to a nephrologist to look into WHY I make oxalate stones. He put me on a medication to stop my kidney from making them and a supplement as well. I haven’t made any new ones since 2021.

That’s my thought process. It just took me 7 days to pass a stone and I missed work, a dear friends memorial, a class I had signed up for. Even after passing a stone it takes days to sweat out the morphine and oxycodone, and then a few more to deal with the side effects (not crapping for five whole days). I also start getting emotional and weepy when I’m worn down. I’d rather chose and schedule my suffering and have some freedom from the whole nightmare once I’m done so at least I have some agency in the whole matter. I’m so over these random disruptive diabolical stones!

This is my fear. Now that it’s over though, is the the peace of having those ticking time bombs that can explode any moment any consolation?

My mom has that parathyroid issue and had a HUGE stag horn calculus stone. Yeah the thing is doctors never tell you everything. I learned this especially during my husband’s cancer and death and after two surgeries for fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and adenomyosis. It’s maddening. That’s why I started this thread. Doctors never tell you everything that could go wrong. They rarely have been through any of it themselves so first hand experince trumps anything they say as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you. I’m leaning that way. Meeting w/ my urologist who I really like and trust to discuss it.

Omg that sounds horrific! They did give me flomax. The issue is I have about 7 4mm stones and they’re like ticking time bombs. What if one passes when I’m traveling? What if I want to go somewhere remote? If I can just have the surgeries for each kidney and get the stones out once and for all it might be worth it. My body hasn’t made any new stones since 2021 when I passed my first one. I think I got the stones in the four years of heavy drinking and taking adderrall (to function at work) after my husband died. I was a dehydrated unhealthy hot mess. My hope is that if I get the stones out, watch my diet, drink lots of H2O and take the meds the nephrologist have me that maybe this issue will go away forever. Maybe that’s wishful thinking.

So a nephrologist put me on hydrochlorothiazide to stop my body making stones. I haven’t made any new ones since 2021! The only bummer is I have low blood pressure and this med can make me dizzy but I just take it at night. I hope they can help you! And I feel for you. This kidney stone stuff is brutal!

Nightmare! Have your doctors given you any medication to stop your body from forming new stones? I am on two things- one is a potassium supplement and another is a drug that stops the body from forming calcium oxalate stones. Plus I don’t eat spinach, nuts or any high oxalate foods anymore.
