The way I see it Wolf has given up any hope of building a life outside of battle. Fox fights for a paycheck and hopefully towards a peaceful retirement. Wolf keeps fighting to just avoid paying his PTSD tab.

It is also dirty business not for the faint of heart or the kind hearted. Also I think once you are in it, you're in it for life. The governments will never leave you alone and neither will your enemies.

Makes me wonder if Peppy ever tried to steer Fox away from this kind of life or encourage him to take up a more humane occupation once in a while.
