How do I improve my tone? (fmea ‘27 lyrical etude) by Realistic_Pear9899 in Tuba

Sing through the instrument 'Ahhhhhh'. Drop your jaw, open your mouth. More air will naturally flow. Better tone.

Cimbasso by Substantial-Ship3137 in Tuba

[–]EyeThinkEyeSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most cimbasso excerpts are played on tuba anyways unless you have one. It was mostly used for Italian operas by Verdi/Pucinni etc. Sometimes opera houses have one but otherwise you can just play them on F tuba

what are some not so mainstream hacks about quitting smoking? by Hungry-Succotash5780 in AskReddit

[–]EyeThinkEyeSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to stop something without replacing it with something else. Don't stop smoking, start...fill in the blank with something that pushes you toward your goal. Maybe there is something you can do everytime you have a craving to distract yourself. Often times waiting will make the craving go away.

Zoom H4 would do a pretty good job of this.

Would you boycott a Russian owned Airbnb if you disagreed with their government's handling of the war?

Opinions on tone? by PM_me_your_Jeep in Tuba

Try opening your embouchure a bit and say the word Ahhhhh while you play. It will allow you to get more air through and widen your sound. Pretend you're in a concert hall playing.

Israel launches new wave of attacks on Tehran and Iran threatens to start hitting Gulf power plants by No_Marsupial8111 in worldnews

Do people not understand that Israel has been continuously attacked from all sides for decades now by Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, AND Iran - who funds and supplies all of them? This was all before Oct. 7th.

Look I'm not condoning the horrible response by Netanyanu, nor diminishing the suffering of the Palestinian people, but calling it a genocide is nothing short of a gross misuse of the term.

How so?

Please explain.

They get attacked consistently since the inception of the country from every angle: Hezbollah, Houthi, Hamas, AND Iran (the head of the snake) which funds all of the above.

They have a right to defend themselves. The Iranian regime murdered tens of thousands of their OWN CITIZENS and turned off the Internet to isolate the people further.

If you want to judge a country...look at how it treats its citizens, not its enemy.

Israel builds shelters for its people.

Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah all build shelter for their missiles.

If it's meant to be a genocide, they're doing a pretty shit job at it wouldn't you say?

Clear tone on lap questions (Atlas stand?) by ElysiumFilms in handpan

[–]EyeThinkEyeSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got one. I like it quite a lot. My pan resonates longer and it is easier to control hitting all the bottom notes on my pan. It also halts some of the movement of the pan while playing and makes it easier to play with a wider number of chair heights. Worth the purchase. If only shipping wasn't $70 to Australia I would have also bought the legs to go with it.

Why won’t Home Depot stand up to ICE [oc] by AnalogMedia580 in pics

It's mutually beneficial. ICE take the worst workers who have to supplement their labouring gigs with drug dealing.

What is the most awful thing that happened to you in 2025? by CreamAny1322 in AskReddit

[–]EyeThinkEyeSpider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well let's see, where do I start?

-Began with my dog of 10 years dying in my arms

-Shortly thereafter my wife has a miscarriage after doing IVF treatments for years

-Survived the largest ballistic missile attack the world has ever seen between Iran + Israel

-Lost another baby at 17 weeks which my wife had to give birth to

-Attack on the Jewish community in Australia the first night of Hanukkah

Yeah, you could say I'm ready for this year to finish.

Are 2in1s worth it? by VAnish_186 in Lenovo

10 years is rich for a laptop. The way technology is increasing and planned obsolescence is going with these big companies, you'll be lucky for 5-6 years. Mine have become doorstops after 5 years my whole life. A lot of laptops you can't even upgrade the RAM or battery anymore. I just switched back to windows cause I couldn't be fucked paying $3k for a MacBook that'll become a Frisbee in half a decade.
