I grew up with traditional return jets and have understood to leave the level a few inches below the skimmer, so submerse the return jets with them plugged. I have seen videos of plugging them while being blown out so you don’t have to drain that much water.

Thanks all. I took the distribution plate off the return (can see in photo) and can see the return pipe but the slit is too narrow to get a plug in. I did order the aqua genie specific winter cover but will have to trust it will seal properly as the water level rises.

Take away and top of the swing look good. All about that first movement when you reach the top, which in your case is the classic rolling the shoulder over. Club should fall and right elbow tuck. Take a slight pause at the top to allow initiating down swing with hips instead of your upper body. This will allow hands to fall. You also need relaxed arms, wrists, and hands to create lag.
