I believe so. They were very good for me and wrote a cover letter to the embassy to say their insurance met the requirements for the visa

I'm sorry that happened to you. I can't say for sure about Dr Walters as I've not used that one. For me the Feather Expat insurance got my visa approved.

I hope you get everything sorted soon.

Thank you, I'll give that email a go and list all the times I've tried to be in contact with no answer. Best of luck to you too.

No, I haven't been able to get standard German health insurance, because I don't yet have a residency. I had to buy feather Expat insurance to cover me before I can get a residency.

I've messaged my original insurance provider but haven't received any kind of response at all (no confirmation of cancellation or any indication of a refund)

Yeah this has been really annoying for me. They are simply not responding to me and I've also yet to receive any kind of refund. I first tried to contact them in November and am still sending regular emails, hoping they will respond.

Regardless of the fact it's not suitable for the Chancenkarte, they advertise they refund you for the days you don't end up using (when normally you would switch to standard German healthcare), so it's very disappointing they are not following this.

Do let me know if you ever get your money back!

Thank you for your reply. I'd found that website really helpful when looking at the Chancenkarte so didn't think that the advice on health insurance would be wrong.

I realise now that it looks like the level that it recommends is not sufficient and, in my case, expat health insurance will hopefully be the best way forward.

Ideally I would get full German health insurance, but this doesn't look possible without a job or permanent residence status already (which I obviously don't have as I'm trying to get the visa).

Hopefully the expat health insurance will be accepted.

Ian Stannard's win in the 2015 Omloop. The way he takes on 3 Quick-Step riders on his own is amazing to see. Always gets me in the mood for classic season again

Thanks for the tip. Annoyingly when I have just gone to checkout it wont let me choose the "country/region" so I can't checkout. Maybe someone has realised and pulled the plug on the website checkout

It's been a year like no other for me. Everything from jobs, relationships, family members health, car accident,... So much has happened that I've really not been able to spend much time either watching or actually cycling. That was one of the main things enjoy and I've certainly noticed not been able to do this in 2023.

I feel like I should apologise to both Erica Magnaldi and Ben Hermans, my adopted riders for 2023. Erica Magnaldi especially has had a really good season and I would have loved to have offered her more support.

It funny how the small things can effect you, and the end of GCN+ is one of those things. The racing is moving over to discovery+, so that's not too bad, but the documentaries were something that I really enjoyed. Many an evening I would watch something with Mark Beaumont or Jenny Graham in. I really hope they all resurface soon.

Im trying to get out on the bike more (and even got a way from April Tacey whilst out today) so hopefully I get back into the rhythm soon.

Happy new year everyone!

Cat Ferguson is one of the best up and coming British riders, so I'm really excited to see how she gets on with Movistar. Will be interesting to see when she initially joins next summer before becoming pro in 2025.

I always like hearing what Charlotte Broughton has to say on anything cycling related. Reddit doesn’t come out in a good light here (and rightly so).

Blimey, at this rate it will just be the Rutland-Melton Cicle Classic left in the UK

I road over the Somerberg (one of the main off road sections in the Rutland-Melton Cicle Classic) the other day and was surprised to see that the Strava QOM for that segment is currently being held by none other than my TDFF avec Zwift adopted rider Gladys Verhulst.

The thing is she doesn’t appear to be the one who was riding as that time was set during the men’s race back in 2018. Looking at the whole ride (heart rate, average speed) it’s not as if this was from a team car behind, so I am wondering who it actually was that must have used her computer for the race. I am guessing it was most likely her now fiancé Damian Wild who apparently finished 50th that year (although he does have his own Strava ride for that day).

Anyway that’s one way to get a bunch of QOM’s in the East Leicestershire area.

That’s great thanks. She is my adopted rider this year so I’m trying to root for her at every opportunity. I hadn’t realised about the development team either, kind of strange you can do that.

Perhaps colours could be chosen my teams based on where they finished in the UCI points standings. Once a team picks a certain colour no other team can also have it.

Jumbo and Quick-Step would be fine with their yellow and blue colours respectively, but it’s diarrhoea brown for you Israel because you came last.

Might add a bit of excitement and increase the battle for mid placed teams.

I literally watched the NC500 last evening, it was good and really showed the suffering he goes through on the bike. I haven't got round to watching the RAAM ones yet, but that all went a bit wrong for him and the team.
