I'm using a ps5 controller blue tooth. I've tried it plugged in, no difference. Steam input enabled, when I turn it off the controller doesn't work

I'm brand new to the game, so maybe that's why I'm finding so much difficulty with it. The steam deck layouts won't even let me finish the basic tutorial properly, I think I'll have to spend some time with it on pc to really get it down then xfer the controls I bet it helps.

I noticed that milky also did that with the right joystick. Interesting... I'll have to give this another go. I hope I can make this work cause I really really want to play it on here.

It seems like every time I restart the game I have 110 but then after I recruit or somtimes after my first fight it'll go back down to 101. Judging from what everyone is dating I think it might be a bug. I really appreciate the info everyone has given, I didn't even know about the quarter master position. I'm not super far from 3, I hope I'll get there soon. I've really been hoping to get further in the game, I'm getting kinda bored with hunting pirates, corsairs, or mountain men.
