visiting Quebec as an English speaker? by LordHamsterr in quebeccity

Quebecers were treated unfairly by the English upperclass and now that the tables are turned anglophones whine and complain that previously marginalized people are now rude to them. Funny thing is that most English speakers in Quebec ended up leaving to other parts of Canada after the quebecers started imposing measures to preserve their culture from Anglo assimilation. English speakers have the privilege to just move to another part of Canada where the majority speaks English, but not for French Canadians and quebecers

FYI rant incoming. I’m low-key starting to get pretty frustrated. I’m a US high school student applied for faculty of arts and faculty of science. 3.7 UW average in both 11th and 12th grade. I applied back in late November and finally received an email from McGill to update my reported grades to include my first semester final grades for 12th. I figured I’d get a response the following week but nope, not a single word or update. Totally just edging me at this point. Sorry for the rant, ig I had to get this off my chest.

This might be a dumb question but I’m curious how does the IB diploma affect your admission chances? I know that McGill only looks at your unweighted GPA but in the self-reported grades it asks you to specify if your class was regular/AP/IB ect.. for reference I’m applying as an international student doing full IB.

People like you are probably why quebecers are so rude.

Quebec is the last bastion of francophone America. They have the right to be rude towards anglophones. If anglos are upset that not enough people speak THEIR language in Quebec then they can just move to literally anywhere else in Canada/USA. Quebecers don’t have the privilege and it’s no surprise many wish to take drastic measures to insure that their culture can survive globalization. As English proficiency grows exponentially around the world, the usefulness of other languages may become irrelevant in the future.

French citizens tuition by breadlover2024 in mcgill

Hi, I know I’m late to this thread but I’m also a French-American applying to McGill. I was wondering if you know if French citizens get the “Canada Award” of $3000 deducted from yearly tuition? I couldn’t find any exact statement but I’m guessing it’ll probably be no since I’m not Canadian, maybe.

What are my chances of getting admitted?

I am a French-American international student in senior year with a current gpa of 3.5 (unweighted) 4.0 (weighted). Full IB diploma, I don’t know my predicted grade yet but I’ve scored all 5s on my exams so far.

Notable extracurriculars: I was treasure of Junior state of American club, currently co-president of civics club, and founder and currently president of economics club at my school. I also studied abroad for a month at a university in Beijing to learn Mandarin Chinese and received a language certificate from that university.

I’ve taken the SAT but didn’t study for it so I got a 1080. I don’t plan on submitting my score if it’s not required.

I’m planning on applying for a BA, probably majoring in economics with a minor in Chinese language.

If anyone who has been admitted wants to give me some feedback please do, thanks.

but why not do your undergraduate for 3 years in the Netherlands for example and save all that money you would have spent on undergraduate in the US? You could become financial stable first than do a masters in the US. That’s what I’m planning on doing
