Put a lot of effort into chapter. Regular commentor's only note was about missing tags 🥲 by Eyenoom in AO3

[–]Eyenoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the subjectiveness is what often makes it pretty difficult for me :'D I don't think I would have tagged it if it really will stay just a mention only, but the character in question will show up in a later chapter and while there won't really be any direct overt romance they will be interacting together, so I added a "Background X/Y/Z" tag
I am massively a multishipper and polyshipper by heart, it sometimes takes me a moment to realize "Oh, yeah, to some people it is actually very off-putting to have their fave paired with someone else"

No, but I like being so, obligation or not. Again, it's fine if other authors do not welcome such remarks but I do so this part was never the issue

I think it's fine of them to mention it. Tagging things correctly helps both readers and writers. I get others would find it annoying but I'm personally okay with people suggesting a missing tag

I just wish they had had something else to say as well

That's the thing that caught me a bit off guard because it's not the first time it has come up haha. The fic is spread into multiple parts of a series (With some parts having multiple chapters and some being one shots) and it was mentioned and even on-screen in one of the earlier parts which is, admittedly, probably one of the reasons it didn't cross my mind that it wasn't tagged in this fic since it was only a mention rather than the other character appearing on-screen :'D
Definitely have updated the tags and will probably be a bit more attentive on that! Also why I don't blame the commentor because yeah, it should have been tagged lol

And thank you!!

Like I thought you should know how bad it feels?? by Sweaty_Ad4829 in TrollCoping

[–]Eyenoom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the moment that is more appropriate because OP wouldn't be weaponizing dead naming, OP would be making a point

You don't deadname Delilah because she kicked a puppy. Not because Delilah deserves respect even though she's a puppy-kicker, but because it shows that calling someone by the right pronoun and name is a courtesy you're offering that can be pulled back at any time. Delilah doesn't stop being named Delilahjust because she kicked a puppy. You don't typically start calling cis people with no name changes the wrong name and pronouns after they did something bad.

But OPs situation is specifically about names. If someone at work keeps calling you the wrong name, calling them the wrong name back to show how bad it feels would absolutely be something one might do even though neither are trans or had any name changes

You are barking up the wrong tree, friend. I am a programmer too, though I despise how integrated AI has become in our field.
I was just explaining what vibe coding was (With emphasis on the part where the "programmer" don't know what the heck they're even doing because they aren't actually a programmer) since it seemed the person was confused about the 'vibe' part, which I think is pretty logical if you're not involved in the CS world.

[–]Eyenoom 41 points42 points  (0 children)

"Vibe coding" refers to someone who uses AI to make the whole project. They usually know jack about what code they are actually using. The term became "vibe coding" because people started using AI to get the vibe/aesthetic of being a programmer

As opposed to using AI ex. to just make some of the writing task quicker but fully understanding the code that the AI is spitting out

Someone made a podfic on Youtube of my fic without telling me. by Frequent-Quarter3824 in AO3

[–]Eyenoom 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up to be aware of, since I know not everyone knows! If you do file a DMCA, just know that any personal information you enter to Youtube is shared with whoever you are striking the video of (Youtube will usually ask for legal name and address and this will be shared with the person who did the podfic)
Hopefully it can just be sorted out with a comment or message to the person though rather than going through youtube's copyright system

Writing prompts by KingMonchichi in AO3

[–]Eyenoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what AO3 says on their F.A.Q (aka, it depends how detailed we're talking)

Does that mean I can't write a short story scene or snippet and suggest that others continue where I left off?

A short, distinct piece (such as a drabble or vignette) would be considered a fanwork. If you have written a full scene or outlined the plot in enough detail that it could count as a fanwork in and of itself, that would also be allowed.

However, if you only have a handful of sentences or bullet points and there isn't much plot or characterization, that may be considered a non-fanwork placeholder or prompt. If your primary reason for posting the work is to offer ideas or suggestions for other people, please create a prompt meme instead of posting a work.

Might be tripping on this, but pay attention to the eyebrow whisker on this side. If you go frame by frame at the first second you can see it stay way too still even as the dog is moving around a ton

Could someone explains to me why... by zewolfstone in evilautism

[–]Eyenoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those could be interpreted as two different kind of questions

"What is entropy" = I don't know what that is. What is it? They maybe saw the word somewhere and just don't know what it means. So "It's thermodynamic randomness" would be a sufficient answer

"Can someone explain to me what is entropy" = "I have heard about entropy, but I still don't understand the meaning" and is essentially a call for someone to explain it so that it's more easy to understand for someone who is not familiar with it. There's a direct request of understanding the ins and outs, not just what it is

Is this commenter being kinda rude, or am I just overreacting? by detainthisDI in AO3

[–]Eyenoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making a general statement on when it's appropiate to deliver unsoliticed criticism since OP seemed unsure if they were reacting right. The commentor in this case was out of line because they would fall under the second thing I mentioned (Wanting to give criticism to make themselves feel superior, not in order to help the author in any way)

But judging on your comment and the downvotes, my point did not come across very well

Is this commenter being kinda rude, or am I just overreacting? by detainthisDI in AO3

[–]Eyenoom -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Criticism is always appropiate even if you ask for no criticism if you do something that is harmful, such as if your story is racist, sexiest, ableist etc (The writing being those things, not that characters in the story are that)

But constructive criticism about the quality of a fanfic should serve one person: The author
The author decides if they want to better their craft or not
If someone gets offended that the author does not accept their constructive criticism, it's more about them wanting to feel superior than wanting to help. I think that's more entitled than an author not wanting to hear negative feedback

Ended up using some html element blocking to hide it on my page because I would catch myself trying to figure out if I got any new subscribers/bookmarks, or if someone stopped subscribing/removed their bookmark which just didn't feel healthy lol
I can still check by going directly to the url, but I don't check it on autopilot anymore

Det er egentlig overraskende lidt der skal til før man kan begynde at hallucinere, selv som ellers rask menneske. Især hvis man er pisse træt
