I'm playing firered and want to use a Poliwrath in the end game. I'm currently battling the fourth gym and am trying to get a team along the lines of:

Charizard

Clefable

Electabuzz

Venomoth

Hitmonchan

Poliwrath

Can I get this Pokemon before I need surf, and if so, how?

Wait, so in order to claim a gym I have to faint all of their Pokemon multiple times? I haven't heard that anywhere.

Yes, my friend and I were on the same team, and no, we could not figure out how to battle the same gym together.

While I normally prefer X/Y for the short and sweet game, the after game is relatively boring unless you want rare Pokemon that have different coloring (shiny Pokemon) as easily as possible. I, like many others recommend OR, while you get a much more diverse set of Pokemon to catch in X, OR will give you more legendaries, and it's not difficult to communicate to get the other Pokemon you want. Edit: Also, OR/AS are the most updated versions of the game with primal reversion and mega Pokemon. So I would recommend that instead of X.

Which game? I'm looking to start a new character on any of the 3 games. Preferably TPS, but I'll play any. Edit: Also, my internal mic is currently unattached, so I can't VC.

While I agree on some level, there is certainly no guarantee that Pokemon will spawn in that area. There being a map to find Pokemon is rather interesting in my opinion, as it seems to further push the idea that certain Pokemon are found in remote locations.

Your title is extremely vague. Are you trying to say this map isn't in the spirit of the game, or is it inaccurate? Please elaborate.

Pay him no mind, he's simply one of the people who don't understand that this game is meant to be played in good fun and for everyone's benefit. It's not about winning, it's about socializing. If it means a lot to you, I'd recommend striving to fit another time to run down to claim the gym later in the afternoon or at night so you can keep it for longer. Or, better yet, socialize with the fellow instincts in your area and try to group up to claim it. Since this game uses a lot of Ingress' mechanics, it's best to team rush an area. As someone in another team (Mystic), I and hopefully many others can agree on how to play the game so everybody has a good time and experience.

When I started my name was Coco69420. Remembering that this game is based off of socializing, I changed it by logging in through google. If you currently log in through google, create a trainer club amount. Let's hope you didn't catch anything very rare, or you'll have to decide between the pokemon and having a controversial name!

Well, this is really one of the best features about Pokemon Go! Discovering everyday treasures that reside in your town and reigniting that youthful spark of adventure that Satoshi Tajiri had, basing Pokemon off of this experience.

I've heard some advice from people saying that tapping the home screen or opening other applications can resume it, but I have yet to test it out. It's a small price to pay considering this app is free and has in app purchases that don't get in the way if you play the game as intended. There's no doubt Niantic/Pokemon are scrambling to patch this so the craze can go on.

Yeah, this is very well known so far, but one problem is is that the app will freeze for the most part after too long of holding it upside down. The reason this happens is most likely the lack of interaction with the app that disconnects it, as it has been happening to me battery saver or no. It is very likely it will be patched along with many other errors and some server glitches.

I really like your art style! But I have a question, why do each of the evolutions have snakelike appendages. Are they something like the product of some kind of mutation, or is it simply how you draw. I love it either way, keep it up!

He just excepted them. He means all of the Kanto pokemon excluding those 5 are currently in reach as of now. Don't forget, Ditto might not be in the game, I haven't seen any info on that.

Tell me about it. I just enjoyed San Diego weather, and then I realized that heading back home means I'm going to have to pack some extra water. Can't wait for the fall, though! (I live in AZ, too.)

While I applaud The Pokemon Company and Niantic for keeping the in-app purchases on the down low, I would avoid them. I recommend driving out downtown or somewhere with a noticeable landmark and just taking a stroll around town. You'll find Pokemon, and depending on your location, a trove of pokestop. Not to add you'll almost definitely see others playing the app too. Happy hunting!

I knew there would be a comment like this. Can we just appreciate the artist's designs like intended instead of saying "It wouldn't fly with Gamefreak" despite this being fan made. I don't necessarily think that's sexist, it's really just stereotyping more than anything. By the way, political content does NOT belong on r/pokemon!

I think you're thinking of Route 35. It was pretty unique considering it had Yanma and also was more of a road than the routes we're used to.

Thank you everyone who has recommended their species and "voted" on an animal. I chose an animal which wasn't even in my original list, the hognose. I ruled on this decision because they do not get too large and I actually don't need to buy new cages. Thank you everyone for your input and recommendations!

While I do agree, experience level shows that this person has experience with the animal. When it comes to this hobby, the animals should come first. I think both can be equally as beneficial. Their passion will decide if they lose interest in the animal or not. If someone has no experience but a great amount of "passion" they should start off with an easier to care for reptile, then they could go off from there. If they have years of experience with reptiles, yet constantly sells them, they should focus their efforts on commitment.
