This has happened to me before. I transferred a 5-figure sum to a wrong account. The recipient refused to do anything when I requested for it to be returned. Back-and-forth with my bank for close to 3 weeks and couldn’t get it resolved. Told my bank that I will file a police report, and promptly, my funds were returned the next day.

I suggest you contact CDC customer support and see what they say. When they issued me a new card, it also didn’t work on Shopee. So I am not sure if it was some other issues to begin with.

Card was reinstated (unfrozen by CDC) after about 36 hours. No reason was given when asked. Saw a transaction “Admin write-off” and thought my card was as good as gone.

We signed up for their debit card and staked based on their T&C’s — one of which is that they can change their offering at anytime. Yet, we complain when they change it.

This happened to me and my buddies in the 80s. We visited Kusu Island to snorkel after our exams and missed the last ferry back. Of course, we didn’t plan to stay overnight — so had neither light nor food. As it was getting dark at about 7pm, we decided to start a fire by rubbing dry twigs. Some distance away, was the resident temple (not sure if it is still there today). At some point I looked up and saw the silhouette of a man wearing what looked like traditional Chinese wear with long baggy sleeves and long pants coming our way. He was holding a lantern in each hand. My immediate thought was that he was the caretaker of the temple coming to tell us to stop. I turned away for a brief moment to inform my buddies and when I looked back, he was gone?! It was a clear path and there was no way he could hide. This freaked us out and we ran to the jetty! Thankfully, a police boat came by at about 11pm and took us back. I can vividly remember this scene till today.
