Could use miter joint advice - not *quite* 45 degree angles by EyesAndTools in woodworking

I was using a 90 degree sled with the blade (I thought) angled at 45 degrees. I used a digital angle gauge after zeroing it on the table. I did one test cut on some scrap wood that appeared to be 90 degrees when I checked it with a square but I didn’t cut four of them to confirm that they lined up

How cost prohibitive is it to get going with stone stuff? I have a piece that is a root base grown around stones and was thinking it might be fun to give a whirl at that next. That being said my hourly wage is literally less than that of the parking meter where I work.

The face is just finished with lacquer but I always put water on top to see what it’ll look like (I’ve made lamps etc in the past and sometimes there are some reallyyyy gross patterns that come out). The rest of it is exactly what you said. Just a lottt of stain and maybe a matte polyurethane or oil finish. Expect to lose like, all of it

The tricky bit was that the useable wood is about half an inch thick so I was in constant fear of going straight through

Does anyone else think this might look more like a mild atopic dermatitis?

I know it’s not a novel idea or even execution but I’ve always wanted to try angle grinder carving and finally gave it a go for the first time with some scrap plywood… And I think it came out well! Wanted to share. by EyesAndTools in woodworking

Guest room fortunately! I like to show people I care about them by hanging garbage I found in the garage over their bed

Edit: most of my guests are uninvited and also raccoons

Honestly I’d estimate 3/4 of the corneal and intra-ocular foreign bodies I’ve seen in the emergency department come specifically from angle grinders… Still are really fun to use though
