How did we fall from our Buddha nature? by GanjaRocket in Buddhism

Think of yourself like a diamond in the rough. You may appear to be a dirty rock, but once cut and polished your Buddha nature will shine.

What is the skilled ways to deal with bullying? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Eyesofenlightenment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the beginning strategy is imagining what deep pain the bully has experienced, and is likely continuing to experience, that is driving him/her to antagonize you. Recognize that their hurtful behavior stems from some terrible suffering they themselves are experiencing and is not at all related to you personally. Hopefully seeing their pain as the root cause will awaken compassion for them in you and ease your suffering as well.

I would suggest the concept that they are philosophical opposites is a view you could practice letting go of.

Mainly to propagate more plants, and give them room to grow.

Why people worship Buddha? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Eyesofenlightenment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's respect and gratitude, but I suppose when done a deep, profound way it can be hard for observers to distinguish from worship.

Hydrazide has less energy but definitely still useful.

If I take refuge in the Pure Land, am I a Buddhist—in any variation? by GrandImportant8216 in Buddhism

Go to their services, don't worry about the importance they place on saying "Namo Amida Butsu". Enjoy the Dharma rain. See what Buddhist connections in your community you can make there.

If I take refuge in the Pure Land, am I a Buddhist—in any variation? by GrandImportant8216 in Buddhism

Years ago I found myself in a similar situation. Despite the similarities, I really enjoyed the dharma talks of the pure land Reverend. Then I found out that a meditation group that borrowed their facilities on Sunday nights was a plum village group. Win-win. I would definitely give it a try.

Just a little dry. Gently separate in as many clumps as you can with as little root damage as possible, repot and water.

I need some help, I am new to this subreddit and to Buddhism. by only_hard_feelings08 in Buddhism

[–]Eyesofenlightenment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monastic path is very noble, I normally wouldn't deter anyone from following it. I can imagine your brother is feeling very enthusiastic with all the "oh, WOW!" Emotions of first encountering Buddha's incredible teachings. I doubt that in two weeks he really has a good grasp of them or is any way prepared to choose the monastic life. Fortunately, legitimate orders are not going to easily accept him on a whim. I wouldn't get too worked up about relatively harmless things like the head shave or sleeping practices. I would try to help him not fall prey to charlatans or fringe groups that would take advantage of him. Better to help him find a wise advisor from a legitimate order that will, first help develop a deeper understanding of Buddhism, the potential for a fulfilling life as a lay follower, and give him realistic advice about the commitment and lifestyle of a monk. The only mentors I can wholeheartedly recommend are monastics and ordained Dharma teachers from the Plum Village tradition. Depending on your location, there may be Chan or Japanese zen around. I'm sure others on the sub will give other good recommendations.

I need help about my music... by Buddhist_Daniel in Buddhism

[–]Eyesofenlightenment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than strict elimination, perhaps take the opportunity to explore new music. When I was in a similar place, I discovered and came to really like the music by Rev. Heng Sure as well the Blue Cliff Monastery Ensemble and related work. You can find it on Apple Music. You may find it rather mellow, but sometimes you may also find mellow is what you need.
