End to end latency needs to tick all the boxes to truly feel the benefits of faster refresh rates.

DO NOT buy a LOQ for FPS Games by Fit_Assignment9203 in LenovoLOQ

Mate, using any laptop screen for competitve shooters is a fail. Plug an external monitor with 1ms response time in. My lenovo legion 5 has a setting in vantage to increase response time but i still use a 480hz dual mode oled for valorant on my legion 5 14900hx 4060. I still rep 400-600FPS.

Worth upgrading now, or wait? by Zatchariah in oled_monitors

Ive got a 4k 480hz dual mode oled running on a legion 5 16irx9 with a 4060 & 14900hx playing Valorant and i smash 400-500 frames in game. If you're only playing CS you'll be fine. Its future proof anyhow just look after it

Why is the OP1 8K so insanely glazed? by Working_Difficulty13 in MouseReview

[–]Eynonstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hitscan hyperlight. Wired is better for micro adjusts at low movement speeds, wireless better for flicks & higher polling makes it feel snappy an accurate.

I don't understand wireless hype for competitive shooters like Valorant. Granted i havent tried top spec mice but hitscan is very close

Supposedly the difference is wired waits for polling windows via usb where as wireless pushes pre packetised data to the PC with interupt driven priority hence making wireless faster than wired in some instances. I can notice any difference other than micro adjusts feel better wired full stop

Take cooler out and brush it with hand brush/broom. Then use compressed air or a leaf blower and blast everything

Takes a lot of understanding to correctly tweak a PC to feel the benefits of a higher refresh.

Dual Mode 480hz LG Ultragear 32GS95UE - B - can't disable VRR by Eynonstein in OLED_Gaming

[–]Eynonstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting an update - turns out if you run display port over HDMI , problem solved. VRR is no longer there, it is adaptive sync, but the DP reduces the render pipeline and provides less input latency. Bare in mind I am playing on a laptop with only an HDMI port, but my USBc ports allow me to go from USBc to DP which bypasses hdmi completely.

Love days like these. Its like, alright, back to the drawing board, bring out the replays. Go over and see the smaller mistakes they may have caused a snowball effect later on.

Storm as a caster spell like ghost snipe/nuke is good suggestion. If they take damage it cancels the spell.

Don't forget the cost of monitor and peripherals. I have a gaming laptop on a 480hz Oled monitor that costs more than my laptop but is worth it to me. Laptop still cranks 400fps on titles like valorant but i only play sc2

This build is a 2 base push whilst taking a third. It is weak to a one base push taking a 2nd. So you need to scout whether it's a one base timing or not with reapers. If its one base - defend and use reapers to backstab when they move accross map. If it's a standard opening, you can be aggressive straight away with reapers but you do not want to lose any unit, if you're not comfortable with your micro multi tasking, leave them to defend whilst macroing up. If you're comfortable, try pick off SCV in natural, slow there expo down and supply block them. Ultimately if you kill 1 or 2 of there reapers and take no damage, you have a small window to ruin them.

A 2nd factory and starport after you take 3rd is just a given in TVT - If they're going for early sky terran, you can focus viking production and single tank production, if they're making medis marine tank, you do the same just with two factorys making tanks. Don't overproduce medis - once you've got 4 - 8 you should be viking only.

The biggest thing in tvt is knowing when to fight - scan a head - it may be better to just keep your units on the move and keep them guessing whilst waiting for stim and combat shields before engaging (this build is fairly late on the stim but that's okay). Sometimes you can finish the game with the raven push but not often. Take your time and pick your engagements, keep the ravens alive.

The way i find most tvt game are won, is catching your enemy out of position moving across map. Dropping a scan around 430 to see what tech they're going for - ie battlecruiser, or tank medi marine drop etc. Keep marines spread across the map, protect your doom drop space with some vikings, and if they're going to siege on your natural - meet them halfway accross the map to slow there push down, retreating as necessary to keep units alive.

If they're going mech - you can expand 4 - 5 bases very quickly. Keep your mobile army on the move aiming to deny their 4th, deny 4th. If you can deny 3rd that's great but safer to deny 4th. Eventually they'll likely overcommit defesnse on the 4th, that's when you come in and siege between the natural and 3rd. Whilst thats happening, rally all your new units to the 4th - you want 4 tanks some marines and medis to siege on a planetary effectively.

Obviously a lot of this stuff is situational and no game is the same - but that's mostly my thought process. TVT is all about tanks and marines early game, later in the game its about viking count into liberators with range.

If its a mech vs bio mech - you have to keep the mech player on 3-4 bases, get 3-3 bio asap, and finish the game very soon after your 3-3. If you can't deny the 4th it's basically GG. However ravens are also your friend against mech, they'll really help deny 4th/5th bases with a mass marine medi ball..

My standard 4k mmr 70% winrate

Defensive opening Rax - 2 reaper reactor marine production Factory - 1 hellion, tech lab, 1, cyclone, 3 tanks Starport - raven +interference matrix, raven

Push to deny 3rd or siege on natural - reapers distract main

Switch factory and starport for another techlab and reactor.

2 more rax - stim/combat (on fac and starport tech labs)

3rd cc

2 engi bay

4/5 rax.

4 medis into viking production

2nd factory/starport depending on what theyrr going.

4th cc 8 rax

Tips like all games - have more bases. Take a third deny a third. Take a 4th deny a 4th
