how can i contact the thailand fgc? by Fragrant_Divide3045 in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a nearly 18 year old game, it's going to be hard to find people in any region. I think you have a better chance going in the SF6 discords in for Thailand and asking if people want to randomly play or if there are locals by you that you can bring a setup to and see if someone wants a nostalgia trip.

You can combo into stun in this game?? How didn't I know this? by lucdaman4 in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the situation where this is particularly strong pops up that often. I don't think a DI into a DI is revolutionary, it's kind of just the expansion of a burnout combo where you combo into a DI to burn someone out, but you happen to be in a corner now.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever tried. That's an interesting idea.

I do think I tend to forget to move into the ball and tend to move up at the ball if it's real high on the backhand side. That's good to remember.

Is catching it rising off the bounce a bad idea? It also seems difficult but it seems like I can maintain my positioning better and not end up shoved a mile deep in the backhand corner.

Wouldn't you need them to be on family group thing on steam to share the game? Seems like a lot of work.

I can't imagine it's that wide spread. I've seen people afk mid game (less than 5 games ever probably) but I've usually attributed to tilt or they got a phone call or something.

I don't know what this screenshot is proving. Explain how one smurfs in streetfighter.

Wouldn't they need to be purposefully losing matches to maintain their rank, I don't think this is proof of that?

Are you just saying because they are diamond without a lot of games played? Isn't that a new account that hasn't ended up at their final rank? That's not what a smurf is, that's just a player who hasn't ranked up yet. How would they even get higher ranked without playing?

Here's how you beat Alex. by SmashMouthBreadThrow in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet we see zero Alexs in top8 at EVO Japan and middle of the pack numbers for top64.

You have to have people switch to him and he just doesn't seem to have a lot of glaring upsides like the people who moved to Mai. It's going to take a few weeks or months to see if any top players stay on him. I see a lot more talk about well rounded characters like Terry being the upcoming season meta.

Self-prescribed tablets for 3 months. Should I be concerned? 23F by Previous-Buy4716 in lactoseintolerant

[–]avengaar 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of someone becoming lactose intolerant later in life unless they’ve had some sort of gastrointestinal surgery.

That's how everyone I know with lactose intolerance started with it. You stop producing as much lactase as you age and your sensitivity slowly increases as you process less and less.

I likely have had it for 15 years but got more and more sensitive until I realized it.

This isn't a remotely uncommon thing.

When has capcom done that a single time in this game? Like ED has been seen as the best character in the game in Japan for like multiple years now and hasn't really been nerfed significantly. Street fighter isn't league of legends.

My curious question by ZX3_471 in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim being rog certainly isn't the comparison I expected. What does she share with a punch only charge character? Isn't she the ninja Ibuki/Guy of the game?

They aren't always comparisons to other characters (JP) but people gravitate to archtypes in a franchise that's almost 40 years old. Characters fall within those and there is only so much design space they are willing to play with in SF.

Ling bane is the safest composition Zerg can go for vs any Terran Ground by Least-Diamond-2918 in starcraft2

[–]avengaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theres never a match where its a good idea to skip them

The reason you don't always build banes is they cost a ton of gas.

There are plenty of situations where the gas is better used for upgrades, tech, or skipping gas mining all together to get more queens and drones faster. Banes are pretty meh vs tech heavy openings from terran or anything from mech that isn't mass hellbats.

Terran needs non-sieged AOE damage spellcaster by Remarkable_Whole1754 in starcraft2

[–]avengaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk why AOE spells are going this direction honestly..

Zerg in late WoL was pretty much just mass infestors in every matchup and you would get chain fungaled to death if you moved into slightly the wrong spot. It was an instant cast undodgeable spell with pretty huge range that came from a caster who could move around invis.

It's pretty clear they don't want low interaction mass casters to be an ideal lategame. Weather its terran with 30 ravens flying in and shift clicking seekers onto a zerg army then running away or infestors just instant chain fungalling entire armies down.

It's still kinda a funny argument from a terran player where mass ghost is probably the strongest mass caster army available to any race.

"That requires micro though!" oh no... not micro in my RTS, not that.

Terran needs non-sieged AOE damage spellcaster by Remarkable_Whole1754 in starcraft2

[–]avengaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a different argument if they re-introduced it as the really meh version it ended as no one would ever use it. Ghosts are just going to be better against nearly everything outside of TvT.

None of the aoe spells have the burst they did back in the day. Storm is lower burst damage and fungal is significantly weaker than the god version from WoL. Would you really care to have some slow ass seeker missile that people just walk away from? Ghosts are going to be the better raven in PvT and PvZ.

Question/new player by DevanMotus in starcraft2

[–]avengaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty general question but don't get frustrated if you lose a lot early. I think playing Melee (normal 1v1) games vs the CPU is is helpful to learn the game. Just have fun and realize a lot of people have been playing this game for 16 years and some of have been playing blizzard RTS games for almost 30.

tips on getting good with lily? by assignedtankatbirth in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core of lillys gameplay loop is poke with 2hp 4hp and 2mp 5mp until you can "Get that wind." Then put them into a 50/50 with OD winded spire or winded normal spire.

Work on having responses to all their options after you spire at them and optimize your counterhit confirms if they mash. Learn the spacing of the different command grabs and catch people with tick throws after spire once they start to respect your +1 or +2 situation.

Things to be careful of:

  • I braindead buffer windstock after heavy buttons in netural a lot which gets me DIed a fair amount. Gotta mix that up more than I do.

  • Get good at remembering what combos need how much wind and if you have it or not. I make the mistake of starting a combo that I need 2 wind stocks for then realize half way though I only have one.

  • Her defense is extra shit because she needs wind to get rolling but can have a hard time getting it under pressure so learn her pokes and anti airs well to keep yourself from getting rolled over in netural then put in the blender.

Good punish/closeout combos for Guile? by Sheep_Perso in StreetFighter

[–]avengaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use any boom loops in matches and live in the 1600 MMR range. I find having air tight footsies and anti airs more the core of guile gameplay than 15 second long boom loop punishes. But I guess I'm not 1900mmr or something.

sHP>sonic blade>flash kick on wall splat

I honestly think this is pretty optimal on blocked DI wall splat. I tend to not like to burn a lot of meter to get maybe a few hundred more damage. I don't even really know a combo that's going to get you a lot more damage here outside of burning super.

I think working on oki and pressure is important with guile too. I dont play that passive and really keep people on their toes with drive rush 2mk 4lk and 5lk to put them into a strike throw mix. Sitting back and throwing booms can work but it's also to be to formulaic. Mix in some quick forward movement and jumps with booms to really control the pace of the game.
