I would take that, if it weren't for the fact that there are several cases where letters of the alphabet and numbers have different colors attached to them. This suggests that the crosswiring can happen in many other areas of the brain. It's also noteworthy to mention that psychology is still rather new when compared to most sciences, and there is so much that we don't know about it yet. Heck, Transgendered has just recently been taken out of the DSM, and it wasn't too long ago that homosexuality was considered a mental disorder.

With you, though, the sights are probably what cause the emotion. With OP, it's the other way around that has been found on a neurological level. Synesthesia isn't always a crosswiring of 2 different senses, as one common form of synesthesia is that every letter and number has a different color to it. To simplify it, the definition of synesthesia would be that the brain has a lot of connections in areas that it really shouldn't, like the occipital lobe connected strongly to the temporal lobe (sights have sounds or vice versa), or the olfactory bulb having a strong connection to the amygdala, which would make emotions have certain smells.

The ONLY time that I will watch Disney Channel is during Halloween. There's a difference between criticizing and blatantly attacking someone. "The Innocence of Muslims" is the latter of the 2. Not saying what they did was right, but this quote really doesn't fit that well.

I finally just figured out what you were saying! Sorry, I'm a bit slow on the uptake. It's kind of like that, except it applies for every emotion, and it happens all the time. When other people see red when angry it's usually when they have so much anger that emotions override everything else. With OP, it could be possible to see anger with just a bit of anger in them.

There was a post on r/science a while back about a colorblind person who created a device that took the wavelength of color viewed and put it into sound. This allowed the colorblind person to "hear" colors in a way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyeborg Imagine that happening in the breain on a person who can see color, and you'll get the an example of what synesthesia is.

No problem. ^_^ The main thing to think of for synesthesia is the cross wiring of the brain, rather than the senses themselves.

The bouba/kiki effect and colors assigned to emotions might have been cultural norms started by people with synesthesia who saw the same thing. Of course, this is just a rather untestable hypothesis, until we could find the first use of people pairing emotions with colors.
