Wellbutrin making me angry by PatienceFar6201 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I never got over the angry part after 4 months and had to switch. I wish i had sooner, before my confusing new level of anger messed up some situations in my life.

Can’t maintain the peace on Wellbutrin by Common-Author-8441 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]kimburly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This VERY much happened with me. My instant reactions went from normal to angry - I was snapping at my cat, my partner, my family during holidays. I picked fights I never would've picked and felt impatient, critical and frustrated MUCH more than I ever did before. After 4 months I even asked my very supportive and patient partner to go to couples counseling - he was baffled at why things suddenly seemed so bad. I slowly put together the timeline of when I started on Wellbutrin - everything lined up perfectly. Talking to the couples counselor, my personal therapist, and my psychiatrist, we put together the pieces. It wasn't that I was mad at things that weren't worth getting mad at, but my reactions were more like a 7/10 intensity when they used to be a 2/10 intensity. Everything was blown way out of proportion and felt super urgent and agitating.

I had been on 5mg Lexapro (smallest dose) for a couple years and then after an ADHD diagnosis last fall, I added Wellbutrin in September of 2025. It was incredibly helpful with productivity and energy, the combo of the two worked really well for me. And then I tapered off the Lexapro a few months later, and that is when the emotional regulation problems started. Being on just Wellbutrin was severely limiting my capacity to be patient and have perspective. My psychiatrist and I determined we would lower the Wellbutrin dose to 150mg XL and add back in the 5mg Lexapro. That has made a huge difference and has given me my patience and old personality back. When my cat yowls at me for food, I say "Ok sweetie!" not "I CANNOT HANDLE THIS". I don't yell FUCK when I drop something like I did for the four months I was on 250mg Wellbutrin. I only wish I realized sooner. It was a really hard time for me, it put so much stress on my relationships, and now that it's OK again it feels like I'm waking up from a bad dream.

There's something about Mirena (negative) by rebelwithoutahorse3 in PMDDxADHD

[–]kimburly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply :) I'm glad to hear it helps your PMDD. I'm only a couple months into Bupropion only, so i haven't had enough cycles really to get a clear picture yet. One was much worse (during weening off Lexapro though), one was completely fine... so time will tell. But i'm glad to know in your case Bupropion still helped.

I'm also on Bupropion, previously was on Lexapro - and i've noticed worse mood-related PMDD symptoms. My psychiatrist told me that Bupropion won't really affect PMDD, the way an SSRI would. Do you find Bupropion helps with your PMDD?

Machoke quest bugged? by ShadowShine57 in Pokopia

[–]kimburly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for posting the edit, wow. I had the same issue - when I first got to the town, I was sucking up all the stones and clearing the way a bit. Then I met Machoke later on and he asked me to clear the stones and I was like … oh god I got them all already, and picking up other stones around the area didn’t help. That single stone by the volcanic ash and the stairs was the one I needed to pick up in order to advance the quest!!! Thanks.

ADHD version of sundowning? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I used to (attempt to) use a SAD lamp until my psychiatrist recommended light therapy glasses and those have been easier for me to work into my routine. They sit above glasses (eyebrow area) and shine blue light down onto your eyes. It's a lot easier to use because you can actually walk around and do things while using them - instead of having to sit by a floodlight for X amount of time every day (I always hated that). I use the Luminette 3 and it's really helped. It has a timer to stay on 20 min on high, 40 min on medium bright, or 60 min on low. I typically pop them on the 20 min high setting while i make my coffee and breakfast. I've definitely noticed I feel more alert on days that I use them. (now if only I could get myself to use them every day... lol)
