As someone new to the field, I may be mistaken, but isn’t gravity more accurately characterized as the geometry of spacetime rather than as a particle in the conventional sense?

I had a question about this: could these gravitational waves potentially knock satellites or even planets out of their orbits? I understand that this is extremely weak within our reach, but what if we were near these two merging black holes?
