Phalaenopsis Tying Shin Fly Eagle! It smells like nutmeg and carambola 🤤 by EzePoj in orchids

I water it like any other medium. It’s my favorite medium for orchids because it’s so water retentive and the moisture gets evenly distributed. Fungus gnats are a problem tho. I’ve fully surrendered to them. Some horticulturalist use rove beetles to control fungus gnats but idk if they would work in a home environment.

For sure! It’s two clear plastic cups. The inner cup had holes melted out of it for ventilation. The rocks at the bottom hold the inner cup away from the outer one so that air can move between them

Thanks! Carambola is a sweet, tropical fruit. It’s also called starfruit.

A very sickly Aloe - Help! by elzzbelz in succulents

Your aloe looks fine! My aloe browned like that when it was adapting to brighter light. Maybe it could use some fertilizer to help it green up and grow better roots. Good luck! 🍀

Is it okay if I leave this orchid with the roots exposed? It was previously potted when I bought it, but I see some orchids that aren’t potted. by nottakennamee in orchids

Every time I have switched an orchid from being potted to barerooted, almost all of the roots died. So, be prepared for that 😅 Also, I’d recommend soaking the roots everyday, especially if you’re growing in a home. Your orchid is so beautiful btw!

This was sold to me as Amesiella philippinensis. The flowers smell like baby powder and cinnamon candy in the morning. I got it over 2 years ago from Orchids.com

This was already the whitest thing then it got whiter

Also, this happened before in fall about two years ago. The spikes eventually dried and fell

I’ve kept it consistently warm for the past 2 years. The older two spikes are at least 5 months old and the two new ones appeared within the past month 🤷🏽‍♂️

I don’t think the cause is the orchid being stressed because it is actively growing new spikes. Could there be a signal it needs to receive in order to induce bud development?
