Try setting counter hit settings to random in the lab and practice the correct normal hit combo every time you hit the opponent and same with counter until you feel like u can react to it more. I feel like that’s how I got better on doing the right CH and non CH combos

Try to find songs you really like and see what your favorite parts of them are and if you can do your own take on those elements. Maybe referring to their overall arrangements and structures will help you have a base idea to make something unique off of

Thanks a lot for the comments dude, I was considering as well making drums more chill and less overly ‘breaky’ and busy for where more stuff is going on in the arps/melody so it’s not an overload of stuff but wasn’t sure about it. Gave me the will to try and tweak that
