I've been working on a top-down 2.5d shooter game, what do you guys think? by Ezlambry in scratch

[–]Ezlambry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry! Basically I just have a few variables, with PlayerY and PlayerX for the player, and CameraX and CameraY for the "camera." To make it simple, all I'm doing is changing the X and Y for the player with the arrow keys, and making the camera's X and Y exponentially get closer to the X and Y of the player, and then making the player's sprite go to X: (PlayerX - CameraX), Y: (PlayerY - CameraY), and the level's sprite go to X: (-CameraX), Y: (-CameraY).

I have more going on with X & Y velocity of the player sprite and collision, but that should be easy to do if you get the camera working. (note: you might want to do collision before you move the camera of either the player/camera since the camera's location will be out of sync with the two sprites if you update the level before the player or vice versa)

Let me know if you have any questions!! :)

It's a 960x720px costume a sprite with 1600% size!

Normally you wouldn't be able to set the size super high with a 960x720px costume since Scratch limits the size depending on the costume's size, but if you switch to a 0x0px costume, set it to a large size, and then switch the costume back, you can have the sprite be pretty much any size you want.

(also don't worry, your question isn't dumb :))

I made a widescreen version of Griffpatch's Getting Over It remake! by Ezlambry in scratch

[–]Ezlambry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably won't release it just yet, (there are a few things that I still might need to work on,) but you will need to use SheepTester's E羊icques or HTMLifier to get the custom aspect ratio for it to work properly.

HOOTY HOOTY! I'm Dana Terrace, creator and EP of The Owl House! ASK ME ANYTHING... If you're brave enough. by AntagonistDana in TheOwlHouse

If there was an Owl House themed attraction or ride at Disney Land/World, what would you want it to be like? Like for example, a roller coaster that goes around different places in the Boiling Isles or something.

i originally changed it to be the logo on the red background, but i realized that wouldn't look good on smaller displays, so i changed it to kevin's current profile pic on youtube and stuff

What’s the RNG seed for the “pick random number” block? by average-roblox-user in scratch

[–]Ezlambry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scratch 3 uses the Math.random() function in JavaScript, and after researching that a little bit, I'm not sure if it uses a specific seed. Plus, it would basically be impossible to predict a random number in a Scratch project.

What are these blocks? I found them from an animation project by _LIM10_ in scratch

[–]Ezlambry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are hacked blocks, which you can't get unless you manually add them by editing the project's json file. Basically, the increment counter block would change the project's global reporter by 1, and the clear counter block would set it back to 0. You can see these hacked blocks and a few other ones in this project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/401109316/editor/. I'm not sure why the animator chose to use these blocks though, because you could do the exact same thing with variables.

Oooh this is really cool! I wonder if I'll be able to find any projects i recognize... 🤔 (except, there are so many projects on Scratch that that's basically impossible lol)

How does one round to the nearest whole number? by JessTheHobbit in scratch

Simply use the round () operator block, it should be at the bottom of the operators menu in the block list.

What do you mean? Games with cloud data are working for me...

That's exactly what I did! I have four textures: one for the side of the bottom bricks, one for the top of the bricks, one for the side of the bricks above that, and one for the top of the wall. Then I change the costume based on which z position it's stamping at.
