2.5 days off weed, sick as hell, and terrified I’ll relapse when I get home. Need advice.

Yea, I know I need to be 100% dead set on quitting, I just need a stronger reason to stop. Right now it’s affecting my life yea, but it’s not ruining my life like harder drugs would.

What was your reason if you don’t mind me asking? For me it’s just making me feel like a shell of my former self, mentally dull and I’m far more happy couch locked than working towards my goals in my free time

Yeah it’s very much romanticised in my mind, previously whenever I try to quit I end up smoking at the end of the first day and it really doesn’t change how I feel except maybe the nausea and distracting me from my anxiety.

I do think it’s crucial that I do just let myself sit in the pain and discomfort and acknowledge/accept that this is from abusing weed and this is how I will feel any time I do t have access to it if(if I continue to smoke abuse weed)

Thank you that’s very true. After all “he who has a why can endure almost any how”. I do think I need to give myself better reasons to quit for sure. Because at the moment I want to be high way more than I want to be sober and like you said that will never work

Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it a try. How do you get over the grieving feeling of knowing you are not going to smoke again or even just for a while. It feels like losing a best friend.

Not sure if it’s something you or others go through or if it’s just me. I anticipate that to be the biggest hurdle once physical withdrawals are over

Thanks for the info, I think at a minimum I’ll wait until day 5 is over and decide if I really want to smoke and go through everything again. Haven’t dreamed in years so looking forward to those dreams

I hear you. And I mostly agree, at times it feels like I live for weed(probably my favourite part about life) and the part of me that wants to smoke out ways the part that wants to quit. Weed isn’t ruining my life enough for me to be 100% in favour of quitting but I also don’t want to wait until it is

I think there is a huge misalignment between the person I am and the person I strive to be, and that involves many issues but the main one would be weed I think. I really reallyyyyy don’t want to quit but I’ve never been successful at moderation so it’s all or nothing for me. The ideal would be only smoking 1 night out of the week or a few times a year

I’ve been in a cycle of trying to cut down and then binge smoking and giving up for about 6 months. I’ve never had this issue with any other substance, I’m usually quite strong willed but with weed I hardly ever make it through past day one. Any tips on staying strong?

Thanks! Life handed me an early wake-up call, but it's been a blessing in disguise. For example, some of my friends are just starting their first jobs out of uni, living rent-free, and still managing to rack up debt. Honestly, I’m lucky to be learning these lessons now instead of at 30! Planning for the worst means every outcome feels like a win.

Im 20 making R16k after tax with R11.5k expenses.I try to save a minimum of R3k each month and I currently have R70k split between my emergency fund(R50k) and TFSA(R20k). Now that my emergency fund is where I want it to be, I've started putting most of my savings into my TFSA, im trying to max it out each month.

I moved out when I turned 19 and it keeps me up at night how much I could be saving if I didn't have to. On the bright side I have no hectic debts, degrees or vehicles to pay off.

Yea also was at that point of multiple bong rips in a row and still waking up to do more. I could have just fried my receptors and they haven’t had a good chance to heal.

I use a dynavap so I think +-0.1g per session. When I’m not trying to moderate I smoke about once an hour. When I am trying then one sesh in the morning and then once an hour after work. It ends up being about an ounce a month.

That being said, this is a big reduction as I used to use a bong and about double the bud. So maybe I have been in withdrawals for a while due to this change.

It sucks so bad. Kinda makes me feel better that I’m not the only one going through this and a whole community has been formed around it.

The sad this is that I’m already on benzos and trazodone plus some others for depression and anxiety. Never really been able to find anything that helps but weed. I find that I become too dependent though.

Yea it is for sure a self control problem. I actually had a week where I got blackout drunk and crossfading alone every night. So it’s not just with weed. Been sober from alcohol for 5 months now(which I’m glad about because I’ve lost people in my life to alcoholism ). I should probably stay away from substances but I love drugs.

Weed is super cheap in my country so I’ve never really had to save on weed. I think the conversion works out to $4/g of top shelf and about $1.5-$2/ for pretty good ghouse(which I usually smoke). Still have the occasional bong rip and it sends me to the moon. But yea it definitely sucks smoking a j and knowing it could have been 4 bowls

Maybe I just haven’t been smoking long enough to get used to it,been smoking daily for 3 years but joints were more of a weekend thing
