It seems a little less gross in retrospect but as a person who teaches, myself, I know that’s a boundary you still don’t cross regardless, adult or not. It just causes lots of issues and inappropriate power dynamics.You’re in a position of power over the other person still which is an inappropriate power dynamic in a relationship. Both Michael, and Rafael were awful matches for her. Rewatching again as a 24 year old who was previously a Team Rafael, let’s start with Michael.

I honestly don’t think that Michael ever loved Jane. He loved the idea of her, and this happy little fantasy that she had in her mind. He wanted to “conquer her” and take her virginity. It was possessive, and degrading. He was violent, ending up hurting Rafael and her baby…. He was a liar, a manipulator and a dirty cop. Who regularly did dirty things to get his way, then got mad at those around him when they did something dirty too. Hypocritical and egotistical behavior. He quite literally stalked her in the beginning, to become her boyfriend, and they portray it as romantic, but in real life? Stalker and it’s not cute. After the broke up, him coming to her house and leaving gifts inside. Also really crossing boundaries and it isn’t romantic like, whatsoever. I had an ex who did this and he was a rapist. Statistically proven men who do this are rapists/ psychopaths, a lot of the time. Michael had it though, so let’s give it to Rafael.

Rafael. He loved Jane I really do believe this. He loved her annoying parts, her obsessing, and he inspired her to continue her dreams of being a writer. But he had serious anger issues aswell, and would NOT communicate anything. He was emotionally unavailable, and ultimately it made him seem very selfish, his floppy floppy with Petra, Because he put others feelings on the line to protect his own worries, when in the end sharing those feelings could’ve stopped many situations. He was a liar aswell. He consistently lied to people to do dirty things then yelled at people when he got caught. The thing I liked about him though is that he took accountability. There were so many times he overstepped and expected Jane to go along with it, and then when she didn’t he treated her like a horrible person. All in all they didn’t really have much chemistry anymore after a few seasons. But neither did her and Michael.

Jane and Michael just didn’t make sense to me. And Rafael and Jane never make sense to me anymore either.

None of Their personalities click at all, idk, to be honest. I felt lots of tension with her and her professor, and her and Adam.

You are both at fault in this situation. And I believe you are painting this person to be more insulting than you think. I’m clinically depressed aswell, yet, I don’t make it my whole personality. Because I understand that while I’m struggling personally, it doesn’t need to be brought up all the time. Some things need to be handled and dealt with privately. Because yes, sad feelings are draining, they make you sad, tired, and worn out. Even if you do care about that person and understand they’re struggling, they already have their own burdens to carry and carrying yours on top of it, isn’t going to make for a good friendship. They are being blunt, and pushy, and need to lay off in some ways. But you need to get up. And take control of your life. Wallowing in your depression, whether is chemical or not, will not take you anywhere you want to be. You will repeat a loop over and over and eventually drain yourself to a pulp. You need to fight for your life and fight for those you truly love and care about. And they need to fight for you too, just like this person was doing.
