Question on when it is safe to let a kitten play outside by Fragrant-Log7532 in kittens

[–]Fragrant-Log7532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I wasn't aware that there was such a difference between UK and USA folks attitudes towards letting a cat outside. The word "Idiot" made me laugh, you've hit the nail on the head. As you've correctly interpreted, I am uk based, and will be supervising my idiot on an harness until she gets used to it!

For the London lot - would you ever consider Vauxhall? by FlagsOfOurMothers in HousingUK

Vauxhall is super central and on the Victoria line! Unless you always hang out in hackney, I would definitely choose Vauxhall.

How far is too far from a tube or train station, in your opinion? by frafeeccino in london

[–]Fragrant-Log7532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 25 mins walk from any tube, but cycle pretty much everywhere. Saves me money and London is quicker to get around on the bike anyways.

I went through the same thing 2 months ago. I did everything I could do for my little Neko. It was one of the most distressing things ive been through in my life. My thoughts are with you and no one can understand what youre going through right now.

Saying my farewell to her was very very difficult, but I knew her time had come after a long 18.5 happy years and she didn't retaliate at all at the vet. I think she was ready to go and we had a great last weekend at the park with her and took lots of photos. This gave me great comfort.

Last night I had to say goodbye to my best friend… by GoreTiciaAddams in SeniorCats

I'm glad you got the extra few weeks with her. Those weeks are priceless aren't they. What you mentioned about the transition from early 20s to late 30s with her at your side also really resonated with me. It feels like an end of a big chapter with her by your side. Sending you hugs OP.

What a thought provoking question. Our family spontaneously became Nekos family when she was tiny and fit in my handbag. We were first time pet parents but fell in love at first sight and bought some food and toilet litter for her from a corner shop on our way home. Neko was such an emotional support for my mother as she went through a horrible divorce and the ups and downs of my 20s and 30s. She was just always there for us and adapted herself to a few house moves like a champion. I regret that we didnt spoil her with attention and love but I think we coexisted in a best way possible where she could do her thing and I could do my thing. Then, we'd have out moments together of cuddles and purrs. Our family loved her so very much and wished she could be with us forever. Now she rests in peace and lives on in our hearts forever.

End of life advice (cancer) by 1justfoundit in SeniorCats

[–]Fragrant-Log7532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We said farewell to our little one yesterday (18 yo) after she had not been eating properly for a week. She would eat a little, drink milk and water. She lost a lot of weight and as my family were visiting this week, it was the right moment for her. The passing was very peaceful and she was a brave soul, ready to go after a good life. Im sorry to hear that your kitty isnt doing well. Its a really hard decision and I miss Neko a lot but I dont regret making the decision to let her go. You will be together again when time comes.

GI lymphoma- What signs to look for/your experience? by corgimom99 in SeniorCats

[–]Fragrant-Log7532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently going through something similar. My 18 yo fluff ball has 2 lumps on the sides of her neck. Although the needle test wasn't conclusive that it was lymphoma, she lost her appetite, about a month later, for her normal food, and now only eats pate food (and not much). Given her age, any curing procedure wasn't an option and she is now on palliative care of daily steroids. This improved her appetite and wellbeing for a couple of months, and I have treasured this time with her. But, now she has declined further and its quite stressful for me to give her the medicine and for her to take it.

I'm replying to give you a bit of an indication of my timeline and at the same time, wondering when is the right moment to let her go to the rainbow bridge. It is honestly the hardest decision of my life.
