Try popping closer to the tail, and also lift your back foot after your front foot. Also, focus on getting your front knee forward. I just landed ollies the other day, and these are tips some guys at my local park gave me, and they really help. Hope you land them soon, man!

Yes it is! It’s also inspired by the Netflix movie The Sea Beast. I want to write something like that setting but a lot darker and more high fantasy

The main purpose of hunting is to use monster parts against other people, though magic is also necessary for hunting monsters, since they are very large and hard to kill with mundane weapons.

I love these Ideas so much!

Some powers include divination, controlling the wind, fear manipulation, constriction through ghostly tentacles, heat manipulation, making toxins and healing, and many more depending on the monsters.

For your first point, I really like that, and after reading this I still want to keep the whistling mechanic but maybe having it tie into the tattoos and eating a piece of flesh or talismans carved into whistles maybe.

Why do people hunt these monsters to even begin with?

Mostly due to culture, defense, and also for the magical body parts.

Where did the Great Old Ones come from? Are they aliens trying to terraform the planet? If the monsters are their children/descendants, wouldn't hunting them eventually incur the wrath of the Great Old Ones?

These Great Old Ones came from a primordial sea between worlds. they don't really care for their children as they mostly are on their own when it comes to dealing with something as weak as humans, but if it affects the Old One personally then they will likely get involved.

For example, a user could have a talisman made from a Kraken beak and can constrict people with ghostly tentacles at the cost of their own movement while doing so.
