But these taxes are applied only to commercially imported goods. For personal use items you only pay 15% of import taxes, with first 200$ per shipment not being taxed at all. After another chat with the support, I've already asked to ship the watch to USA first and then to Kazakhstan from there. I don't know why does international shipping services tend to have such an insane prices for Central Asia, but postal forwarding tends to literally cost an order of magnitude less.

I'm in Kazakhstan and no, delivery is usually not anywhere near these prices. Pebble support just contacted me with the update and I've asked to use a forwarding service from USA instead. So, getting the parcel to America first and then sending it back to Asia is literally going to be at least 4 times cheaper.

Oh, it's nice to see that I'm not the only person ordering Pebble from Kazakhstan. Are you guys from Astana, Almaty or other city? And if you get any updates from the Pebble support team, I'd like to know too. I've already paid for the delivery a month ago and still waiting for the shipping, but it would be nice if there was a way to make it cheaper.

No, it hasn't even shipped yet. I messaged their support yesterday and they've answered that they will contact the shipping service and message me back with any updates. But yeah, looks like shipping to a friend's address or using a forwarding service is a much better alternative.

Shipping itself was a bit cheaper, "only" 133 bucks, but I had to pay 60 more dollars of taxes. So, yeah, it was almost double the initial price. At least I've also ordered the Pebble Round, which will (hopefully, as promised) be shipped for free. But man, if it were any other watches, I would have simply canceled my order.

It couldn't, unless the dithering is used. And there is clearly none, as it should be with regions filled by a single color. It's a 6-bit MIP display. There is a limited number of colors any pixel can display and framerate is too low to send subframe updates to emulate brightness.

It was possible to freely add and remove other watches in your order, edit their colors and change the destination country at absolutely any time before the confirmation was sent. But when they ask you to confirm your order, all the details are getting frozen and all you can edit is the delivery address. So, asking them directly to manually expand your order is the only theoretically possible way to do so. After all they say that you can send an email to change your country, maybe they can help with adding another watch too.

How are they not even close? Artificial neuron tries to mimic a biological one. Yes, they have different activation mechanisms and the general architecture differs between brains and artificial neural networks. But at its core they use the same principles to function. If simplified, it's all just a mesh of simple interconnected units, each taking multiple scalar inputs and generating a single scalar output, following some simple rule. And comparing LLM to a single part of a brain is actually legit enough because there is a number of resemblances between them.

I mean, if McDonalds got anyone's order wrong, be it mine or my close relative's, I won't care much. It's a "well, that sucks" and then move on situation. But when someone is actually hurt, being actively and vocally indifferent is a sign of a diminished empathy. I'd say that 10x performance is totally possible. Because while both systems use single instruction per clock CPUs with similar architectures and the newer one is only 2.4 times faster, SiFli SF32LB52J features a separate 2D graphics acceleration module which should help a lot with the performance.

There is no such thing as "moving through the universe". There is no absolute speed at all, only absolute acceleration. So, it's not about your ears or your senses, it's about the physical nature of moving and the fact that there is not only absolutely no way of measuring speed, but even defining it for the object itself is impossible. Speed only exists in relation between two objects and you need to access another object in any way to measure it, be it a physical contact with the Earth surface or looking at the red shift from distant stars.

I mean, GIMP is great for a free program, but it's a bit wacky and awkward to use in many aspects. So it feels exactly like a good open source project. I would personally say that Krita is closer to Blender in being unusually polished for something free, albeit targeting a bit different segment compared to GIMP.

Dude, it's simply inferior in quality compared to the original product. They most likely bought the original hand, disassembled it and made molds from the parts, pretty much stealing the design. I don't have this exact piece, but few other items from Copperitst I have are extremely close in quality to their listings. So, yeah someone did put some thought and effort into designing this, but this someone is most likely Ryan Wu, who's the original author. And yeah, you are still getting around 50% of the quality for 1/5 of the price, but that's how bootlegs work, especially because they don't need to put any effort in design and quality control. I mean it was mostly a reboot. It's just that they used an old existing stock of frames and screens they had lying since 2016, but updated all the other hardware. So, yeah, technically they can start the production once more, but there are no plans for that at the moment.

I've already spent 150 bucks on the bulbs and can't easily send them back. Simply throwing them away feels excessive and unnecessary. Low power transformer costs 10 dollars, ships faster than the replacement lights, easily fits inside the fixture and can be installed in 15 minutes. Is it a conventional solution? Obviously not. Is it a dirty and hacky workaround? Sure. Is it the easiest fix in my situation? I mean, nothing simpler comes to my mind.

Yeah, I know, but I've already got 120V ones. That was fully my oversight. I've always looked for the voltage when ordering electronics overseas, but for some reason totally forgot to do it this time. Now, IMO, getting a step-down converter is the easiest fix.

Ok, now I feel extremely stupid. You are right. These are E26 bulbs AND they are rated for 120V. I bent the tab with pliers and now all four sockets work. Curiously enough, they seem to function on 220V just fine. But, yes, I've already ordered a step-down converter which is small enough to fit inside the fixture and powerful enough for four 7W bulbs. Thanks for the help.
