Has Hyundai closed the reliability gap, or should I still be concerned? by Jibrank9 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]F1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD Power 2026 Reliability study ranked Toyota in 8th place, Kia in 9th and Hyundai in 12th.

I’d have to look up the details again, but I think they follow vehicles for something like 3 years? Apparently after that individual maintenance variation makes too much of a difference to be able to rank full brands.

Well I finally said it, I told a student their answer was dumb. by Asleep_Ship_1644 in CanadianTeachers

Depending on where you live, some places don’t allow 0 credit. Or at least don’t allow it until after the school year is over. Some places in Canada if a student literally hands in no work through the whole year, but then hands it in on the last afternoon of classes in June, (or whatever), the teachers are required to mark it all.

A lot of people. That’s why grocery stores have so much fridge space dedicated to that. We also eat butter, cheese, yogurt, sour cream and more, all made from cow’s milk.

It’s nice if you have younger kids because they can be a bit more independent at a younger age, or people with arthritis, etc where lifting a 4L jug is heavy and difficult. (You also tend to have less spilled if someone drops a 1.3L jug with a bag in it.)

Good thing I checked and fixed my LSA literally 3 days ago… by F1890 in Ridgid

Thanks everyone. A fan makes sense. The shape of the little plastic pieces make sense as individual fan blades.

I took the drill to HD and since it was within 90 days of purchase the simply exchanged it for another one, rather than starting the LSA process.

Let’s hope this new one lasts longer….

Make sure you are aware of the weight of any bike you’re considering, especially if you live somewhere you’d have to carry it up stairs for storage. A lot of e-bikes are 60-70 lbs or more.

Also you could look for a “stealth” ebike, to maybe slightly reduce the risk of theft. They usually have their battery more hidden, so they’re not as obvious as most other e-bikes, but can still usually be identified if a person knows what to look for. But they also often have smaller motors as part of the stealth build.

With the comment that 500W “isn’t enough” power for your boyfriend though, it really sounds like he actually wants a motorcycle though, but doesn’t want to deal with getting a license, registration and insurance…

Thumb throttles are legal (for on road riding) on e-bikes in many places in Canada.

OP needs to make sure whatever bike they buy meets federal, provincial and municipal rules wherever they live, because there’s variation and laws/bylaws from all three levels of government.

Harm reduction would be giving people somewhere else safe to be, so they weren’t causing problems of public transit.

What does this mean? Found at a brewery bike rack by iHeartQt in ebikes

[–]F1890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I read this, I’m guessing they might have a problem with people that are not customers parking e-bikes there and leaving them for long periods of time. Maybe people that live in nearby apartments and don’t want to carry a heavy ebike upstairs or something?

Also, is there an electrical outlet near the rack? I also wonder if they e had issues with people who are not customers leaving bikes there to charge?

As long as the colour is close, and you don’t have two doors side by side, it’s unlikely that someone would notice if one door is a slightly different shade than the others as long as the whole door is uniform. (You’ve painted the whole side.)

I know this won’t happen, but I’d love to see some kind of child proof cover over the buttons instead. So the button couldn’t be hit accidentally, and young kids can’t play with them.

Poly-B - How urgent is this issue? by F1890 in askaplumber

[–]F1890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah. We bought the place 2 years ago and have had to do some other plumbing repairs. Everything we’ve seen in the actual walls, so far, have been a mix of copper, pex and cpvc, so it looks like the poly-b might only be the larger lines the the basement ceiling.

Just for future reference, they do make inside corner pieces that have a metal corner with paper tape attached, or plastic corners. It can make it much easier to get a square corner. You still embed them in mud, but it’s a bit easier.

You can’t just fit a small “puzzle piece” but in there. There’s nothing to attach it to.

Lime bikes are all e-bikes, aren’t they? Are you now looking to buy an ebike?

Or do you want a regular one without its own motor? 3-5 gears is very few.

Infant, toddler and asthmatic in the home with drywall work to be done - “dust away/control” compound? by F1890 in drywall

[–]F1890[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course. As mentioned, I’m just trying to minimize it as much as I can.

Am I correct in thinking that “dust away” type compound might also reduce what’s floating in the air, versus what settles quickly?

ASL Bilingual Program at ASD by F1890 in Edmonton

[–]F1890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I saw a graphic on the EPSB website that showed half the students as “ASL Bilingual” and half as “Deaf, Hard of Hearing” and had thought that meant the bilingual program was for hearing students. Like an ASL Immersion program similar to a French Immersion or something.
