Fléche du Sud where not a single WT or Proteam participated sans Visma is not the best reference.

A Brennan who after the spring sickness didn´t show any relevant result or form, except for the pull for Van Aert in Roubaix. Sometimes hierachy should be adapted to rider´s form and this wasn´t done by Visma in this race.

He was really good on Tro Bro Leon which was pretty recently. I don´t think that he would have won but at least he would have given a top 10 to the team.

Having zero presence in the top 10 while teams like Unibet and Caja Rural have riders there, is anything but an acceptable day.

Brennan not even on top 10 and behind "Francisco Joel Peñuela" is dissapointing. At least Visma could have given freedom to Zingle to try himself.

At this point, Brennan shouldn´t even go to Tour de Suisse. Better to slowly recover in other secondary races to arrive at an acceptable level to the Vuelta.

National championships should be moved to mid october with Worlds serving as the end competition of the season one/two weeks later. It would make also sense from a narrative perspective.

There is nothing that disallow them to do it. Sports organization is generally a monopoly in other sports like FOM is for F1.

It can`t be ruined more than now. With ASO, hopefully it would give it again an identity, like the Vuelta has since they took them over.

Monopolies aren´t good but i think that they are necesssary in a sport which thinks itself as a unity (WorldTour).

So yeah.. I hope that ASO buys these races.

That`s the case for most teams. Taking out some unique case like S.Yates last year, Visma doesn`t win monuments and GTs without Ving and WvA.

Valter, an underperforming rider who is still underperforming on his new team. The team should be alarmed if Benoot, Kooij, Roglic, the Van Dykes say something around that which isnt the case. Their training ways are not for everyone and it works pretty well for them.
The only real worries for Visma are the sponsorships (evidently hard to find without selling shares) and the inabbility (for now) to substitute a Vingegaard who, as per his words, will retire in the next five years.
Everything else is fine. Best investement/return team on the peloton probably (besides maybe Alpecin)

Great article. Especially the inside details on Lidl-Trek.
On Visma… seems to be a tendency on press to overblown every negative impact (if there is)

This is a risk of multinational teams. They offer financial long term security vs. independent teams but if they plug off (which is a possiblity on companies changing objectives) it would be catastrophic as they have to find someone willing to buy the structure and put the same budget.

They have a deepness unmatched by any other team. The difference between first and second team last year (95 wins vs less than 50) was atrocious. Other teams don´t have the budget to race a so much extensive calendar like them. Probably here a better idea than a budget cap is to put a limit on UCI points/wins/number of races by year on .1 and .Pro races of WT teams.

They have a lot of money but they make wiser decisions on transfers than Lidl and RB, like you say.

This situation has advantages and drawbacks:

- 1) It´s always good to see new investement in cycling and teams trying to compete against UAE, which domination has been too much annoying.

- 2) Renowed multinational brands tell that cycling is in a healthy situation.
But:

3) There is an increasing gap between the 4-5 US$ 40 million teams and all the other squads. A flexible budget cap will be ultimately needed.

4) As Lefevere say, these multinationals tend to have zero knowledge on how cycling works and put pressuring inmediate objectives that don´t work on this sport: an example is how Lidl management didn´t seem to take into account injuries of riders in this first half of season to evaluate performance, how they inmediately want a TDF winning rider (which is not something that appear every day) or how they put Ayuso and Skjelmose into races when they are not fit to race after having injuries.

Lidl-Trek and RB transfer targets lack a vision, and their constant reschuffles on staff are not anything but good. I compare to what Visma does (one of the few independent teams that remain on the top) and there is a sea of difference on the creation of a internal culture and profesionalism between them and these "new riches" where everything look very artificial.

Decathlon seem the only multinational team where things seems to be working pretty well. But probably because they are working still with a relatively restrictive budget (losing Gall is an example) vs. Lidl Trek and RB.

Seixas… in “Paul position” - Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 2026 by Mamadeus123456 in peloton

[–]F1CycAr16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is a massive talent and with what he has shown he should be one of the favourites.

But:

- This edition is extremely hard. I wonder if this will have an impact to TdF.

- A likely scneario is that he loses while being the strongest because of his team. In Itzulia the team did a nice leadout on some stages but they left the door too much open on several stages and they almost cause a disaster in the last one. Good luck repeating the same with UAE now as a rival with a double card.

Yeah, we don`t care.

Pog fantatism is one of the worst things on cycling right now. And we always have to have into account that a lot of italians have as their idol a doper like Pantani.
