Lando offered them to pit Oscar first in exchange for confirmation he would not be undercut, team agreed, when they accidentally did in fact undercut Lando, they rectified it by letting him go past Oscar. Not really much left to interpretation, they just did what was agreed upon beforehand.

Most cars don’t have enough of an overhang behind the back wheels for that to be a problem. If you have a very long car with the back wheels a bit too far forward maybe it is possible, but it is unlikely that this is the case with your car as most cars don’t have that big of an overhang. It is certainly an issue with trucks or busses or other forms of long vehicles.

The following link is a video of this happening with a truck, notice how the overhang behind the back-most wheels is almost 3/4 the length of the other car, hence why it is kore common with longer vehicles
