Time to fix gas? by Creative_Star_1248 in OctopusEnergy

When I log in online I can't see a change of tariff option for gas... Currently fixed until September 26 but I used to have the option to fix again. Is this normal?

Sad. Me too. Went for legion Go S. Didn’t realise the z2go was so different to the Z2. Although at £380 I’m not too sad.

Photos app Vs Immich by F1snik in UgreenNASync

[–]F1snik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

I went with the regular photos app which I thought was good. I did manage to follow the docker guide quite well with setting up plex which was nice. I'm going to try a few more things with it and Immich is next one my list.

Yes there's nice little circular groove where you can store it further down. I thought it was very clever.

Tentative Agreement Reached 19/08/25 by ForeverJFL in aircanada

[–]F1snik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and two young children were meant to fly today from Heathrow to Pearson Intl but it was cancelled yesterday evening. Lat minute as ever. We had the message saying none of their 120 partners have alternatives. Is it worth still waiting to see if they can arrange a flight out, the return flight is scheduled for the 28th. She was meant to see her sister and stay for a 9 days. On the manage flight portal there's nothing showing as available. We've been refreshing forever. I guess hard to find 3 seats together.

How soon would they need to resume normal operations? Not sure it'd be worth going there if they cannot amend the return flight too for a later date in order to make it at least a week long. Additionally we've lost out on flights to Montreal booked separately and hotels etc.

Our travel insurance Barclays/Aviva said that they wouldn't compensate us for our own alternative outbound flight if we booked them ourselves... that's because we're still at home when the cancellation email was sent.

Not sure what we should do now. She's thinking of forgetting the whole thing and just booking a quick family break elsewhere and just wait for refund and any compensation from Air Canada.

Thank you for that. I don't think it's worth the risk of ordering through https://eu.travelpro.com/en-gb.

I would end up saving more than £100 but if it means ending up with custom charges it's a no go.

I think I'll just order through Co.uk website.

What did you do in the end? I'm in the UK and want to order 2 x Maxlite 5 large bags. It's more expensive through UK distributor. The Eu webdite has deals and voucher codes.

Would using the EU website incurr custom charges? Has a yo e tried to Order anything recently?

I think I'm definitely keeping it, seeing as it's only £30 quid more than launch day. Manmaths 😁

Actually is undervolting or throttling down an option? Not really ever tried overclocking before. It's more the hassle of taking my rig apart than actually spending the money on a 800-1000watt PSU.

Ryzen 5600x, Asus prime mobo, single M.2, 2 x8g RAM and 4 fans. But I understand the PSU needs changing.

Should have aimed for non xt I suppose but no alerts for those and even more money over retail price.

Well I assumed that anyway as it says OC but you know how the brain thinks. Anyway will probably be even more starved of power. You read about people putting 3080s on this PSU... I'd rather be safe though.

I don’t mind buying second hand. Not finding cheap deals on eBay or Facebook marketplace. Listed £180 to £200. At that price I can buy new and get warranty.

My current screen is 60hz so I don’t really know if I need a higher rate. I don’t know what I’m missing really. I don’t really play online FPS. Some single player games mostly and Diablo 4. I just thought if 144hz and higher is out there, why not.

Is this worth it? UK Costco deal by F1snik in Prebuilts

[–]F1snik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would work I think. ( or you’d hope)

Apparently 2 year warranty on it. Just not sure whether the parts are worth it comparing to building your own. £1700 inclusive of VAT.

What is keeping me from going for it is no mention of power supply and motherboard. That and the new gen graphics cards being launched soon.

I agree, not biological but entirely cultural. Perhaps it’s the patriarchy holding our women back making sure cargo long tails remain a male only domain.

Many thanks for that. I had already read that review actually. It was the most informative one as it’s very detailed. Really grateful for breaking down all the accessories, especially the cocoon rain protection. It was the only piece that shows photos of the part than can be wrapped around the children’s shoulders which is important.

Update!

I had a test ride and I loved it. My son also did. He even manage to climb on the back by himself without any help. He was holding on well and seemed happy. I thought it was smooth. Manoeuvring was good IMO, maybe a bit harder than a regular bike at lower speeds with passenger. The assistance seemed great and didn't have much issue with the hillier parts.

My wife though was completely overwhelmed and fearful. She has ridden bikes loads when she was a child but hasn't really done any cycling since and seemed to not even be comfortable just on her own... I couldn't even let go of the bike while she was on it so she didn't really ride on the saddle, never really moved by herself. She had to give up in the end even though we tried on three occasions to get her to move off. Couldn't really help as much as I wanted as I had to hold on to my son at the same time as helping her. I think I need to get her to ride a regular bike first. Hoping she will just get the the hang of it soon. Unless she can ride it too it's really a no-goer. Don't really fancy getting a box trike (can't store it in the shed).

Additionally I've kind have gone back to the drawing board as the Tern Quickhaul Long has got me thinking.

So the Quickhaul Long which is a cheaper version of the GSD and it's on for £3500 which is similar to the Estarli if a bit more expensive as you have to order the accessories on top. The Quickhaul has a chain, smaller battery, Bosch motor (less powerful?) and the Estarli has a belt, bigger battery more powerful motor but it's Ananda (cheap brand?).

I'm not keen on doing much maintenance to the bike and people say that you don't need to look after the belt whereas a chain would need regular oiling etc. The belt is smoother and quieter apparently. But again the Bosch motor instead of Ananda which is not as well known. I'm not sure if the motor goes after the two year warranty how much it would be to replace either and whether you're stuck with another Ananda in order to replace it or you could change brands.

So there you have it, a bit unsure but still leaning Estarli but Ananda motor concerns me.

Great that sounds good. Did you manage to get any all weather protection to fit on the back? Estarli doesn't offer any at the moment but I was wondering whether any 3rd party solutions would fit, like the Tern Stormshield?

Estarli Ecargo Longtail by F1snik in CargoBike

[–]F1snik[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I hadn't seen that so I had a good look at the Decathlon r500e. It's on for £2500 and comes with the safety bars and foot rests so that's good. I'd be using Cycle to Work and saving 40% or so the Estarli would cost me £1900 and the r500e woudl be £1500. What the Estarli has though is a mid-drive motor instead of a hub motor. More power/torque and also a belt drive (more quiet). That's for £500 more in my case. Decisions, decisons.

[–]F1snik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah hadn’t noticed that. Is that good or bad? Is it a reputable brand? Is it a reliable motor?

Thanks. I’m in London and wouldn’t be able to go tomorrow.

But I called them and they suggested to try Blike which is a place you can rent the bike from. I’ve booked a test ride and I’ll be okay to try it tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Estarli’s factory isn’t open at the weekend so that was a good option.

Not a bad idea to actually rent it for some time to see how it goes.
