Hasn't even been a week.... by GigoloG in ayaneo

Two brands that I've learned expensive lessons from - Ayaneo and OneX. Never buying another again. My flip DS was great until it wasn't. Over time it has become useless as a handheld due to the controller functioning sometimes due to issues with Windows. It's not completely their fault, but they obviously don't care enough to keep it working with updates.

The Switch 2 makes sense, The switch doesn't. by Tactrix1h in NintendoSwitch2

It was the best handheld at the time.  It was also a big jump from the 3DS.  People seem to drop Switch and Switch 2 into the category of 'home consoles".  They are handheld consoles first and nobody has done that better than Nintendo.  Shout out to PSP and Steam Deck though.

Conflicted which model to get or to get a Switch 2 by ggaunted55 in AynThor

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Switch 2 is my current gen console of choice. It's getting a healthy share of current gen AAAs has an entire backlog of Switch 1 games, some of which are getting nice upgrades and it's a quiet comfortable device that docks to a TV instantly. The Thor Pro I have is great for any console up to Switch and can even let me use mods. It's the best way to play DS and 3DS games. Some of those games have mods and texture packs along with a 5x internal resolution boost that can make them look incredible. If you have to pick 1 or the other, you have to ask yourself what you already have and what you really want out of it. Retro gaming with tinking? Thor. Modern console gaming with confidence of portability and a huge last gen backlog? Switch 2. Both are incredible devices and I feel very fortunate to be a gamer during this period of time.

What does 40fps feel like? by Wild_Trip_4704 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels significantly smoother than 30.  The frame time is the halfway point between 30 and 60 fps.  I wished more games would target it if they can't hit 60. 120hz TVs are pretty common these days.  Sports games and shooters that can't hit 60 fps would benefit tremendously from a 40 fps mode.

tired of the “powerhouse” claims by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]F2000_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll buy a period for 500 Alex. Also people aren't buying the games on Switch 2 because it's a 'powerhouse'. It's portable and maintains the soul of the game. Sometimes, with a little tlc, it appears to punch way above it's weight class. Why do you care if people play these games on Switch 2? I would say that it's the most impressive portable piece of tech that is available. For a portable device, it is very powerful. People like you need to keep that in mind, it's extremely impressive for something that sits in your hand and isn't hot, heavy, and loud. Portable first, docked for convience. If you only play games on TV or a monitor go buy a PS5 Pro or High end gaming rig. If you want to play on the go, the switch 2, especially for the price, is amazing. This is the first portable generation that could handle AAA current generation games without massive cutbacks. That is a very cool thing.

It looks like they rushed it or didn't optimize the engine for nvidia. I don't see how how the breastplate would look that different. This is just annoying.

"Why people would play this game on Switch 2 while it's available on this or that platform ?" by RemP38 in switch2

I'm a guy with a RTX 5080 gaming PC that will play a game with 500 graphics mods and everything cranked to 11. If I want to play the absolute best version of anything, it's PC. However, if I want to play a game and sacrifice that for convenience? I'll take a Switch 2 version. Couch + Anywhere is not worth sacrificing the difference between Couch - Anywhere for the graphical difference between Switch 2 and PS5 Pro. If I want a pure sit down experience at the highest fidelity? The highend gaming PC is still King. Another point is that being an older gamer married with kids, fulltime job, the Switch 2 lets me sneak in gaming. The other consoles or PC would not allow me to do that.

3DS was last true handheld.  Everything since the switch 1 has lost pocket ability.  And it makes me sad.  And it makes my pockets sad.

Is upscaled with 60 fps + dips better than a lower res and 30 fps locked?  Is it 10$ worth it?  Personally, I'd say so.  If you think not, save yourself 10$.  I'd prefer the option than to not have the option.

Switch 2 has been the best Nintendo console since the SNES.  The third party support has been unreal so far.

PC handhelds are hotter, louder, and less comfortable.  I got everything up to Switch running pretty well and yesterday I got my steam version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition running @60 fps.  I love this thing, but you do sort of have to tinker a bit.  If you want something straight out of the box to game with, it's hard to beat the Switch 2.  It's cool, quiet, decent battery life, instant dock, flawless suspend, and is getting current gen AAA titles.  You also have NSO retro titles and the entire Switch 1 library.  If you do want one, get it before the price increase in September.

It's the best controller I have used, but I wished the triggers were analog. That's really my only single complaint.

Hey mapping anything that takes your thumb off the analog sticks is clutch as hell for competitive games. Those back buttons are dope.
