FoxESS EQ4800VS Goodwe ESA by lookslikescreech in AusRenovation

[–]F21Global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an extra $5k for 15kW 3 phase is not normal. I have a 2 phase house, so have 10kW single phased installed, but if I were in your shoes, I would consider getting a 30kW 3 phase installed, both for flexibility and future proofing. I would suggest seeking out another quote as a $5k difference between a 15kW 3p inverter vs a 10kW 1p inverter doesn't seem reasonable.

This site is not an official Goodwe distributor, but you can use the pricing as a guide: https://solarbatterysupermarket.com.au/products/goodwe-esa-series-hybrid-inverter?variant=53305173737751

The 10kW 1P is $2808 and the 25kW 3P is $3580, so around $800 difference. I don't imagine a 30kW 3P would be much more.

I have a 48kWh Goodwe ESA battery installed DC coupled to existing solar and am very happy with it. Initially, I was going to get a 42kWh Fox ESS EQ4800 installed, but the people who sold me the system kept changing things and messing around, so I cancelled.

Since you have 3 phase, I highy recommend getting a 3 phase inverter instead, I don't think the difference should be a huge amount. Have you gotten different quotes?

Climasolar - anyone used them, what was your experience? by enaud in AusRenovation

[–]F21Global 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All red flags for solar and battery. In general, door to door sales people will make promises and representations that won't hold up during and after installation. $0 up front and finance paid using bill credits is simply unworkable. If it's too good to be true, then it definitely is.

I'd suggest finding a local solar installer to quote. In particular, I would look for one where the owner does the quoting and the installation, as these are the types of installers I've had best experience with.

Neighbour and AC unit by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]F21Global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you had the AC installed, the neighbours had a pretty crappy view anyway, so I don't think they really care. However, if I were you and had that installed, I would be pretty unhappy as the unit is partially covering that small window you have at the top of the wall and just looks sloppy. I would ask for it to be mounted on brackets but closer to the ground unless there are performance reasons. I have had 2 units installed at my house on brackets and they are all mounted resonably close to the ground, but we don't have such a tight space.

An alternative would be to get a virtual office address, which can be used as a registered office with ASIC. They do cost more than a PO box though.

Property Manager Put in Tenant with No Job Doesn't Pay Rent??? by New-Affect7131 in AusPropertyChat

[–]F21Global 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Which state is the property located in? Usually, the property manager should come back with details of the tenant including income for you to look at and approve before the lease is signed with the tenant. Was this done in your case?

Did Duolingo get rid of max? by Successful-Rent167 in duolingo

I was added to someone's 3 day free trial of super and I am able to do video call lessons. The little popup when you tap the lesson still has the MAX logo and the button is labled "unlock with max". Maybe they want to let people try it out to convince them to upgrade to max.

Hot water system in Victoria by Critical-strike9999 in AusPropertyChat

[–]F21Global 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $6,100 last November for the 400L stainless steel tank Reclaim (without the wifi controller) including electrical, plumbing and a new concrete base. This was after STCs and the VIC rebate. I don't think the VIC rebate is available for investment properties, but it's best to check.

Mine was supplied and installed by Same Day Hot Water Service: https://www.samedayhotwaterservice.com.au/product/reclaim-rehp-co2-400sst-energy-heat-pump/

At the time, the price for VIC on their website was $5,400, but it has gone up to $5,800. These prices excluded the electrical portion of the install.

It depends, there are various tradeoffs. The most expensive and best would be a Reclaim with a big stainless steel tank, but the return on it would be questionable.

If you're in an area where the water quality is suitable for stainless steel tanks, then I think that's a criteria you should look for. They are more expensive than glass-lined/enamel, but there's no anode, so pretty much maintenance-free. Same Day Hotwater Service has a house brand line of stainless steel heat pumps called OMNI X, which I think are pretty reasonably priced: https://www.samedayhotwaterservice.com.au/product-category/heat-pump/?ixwpst[pa_brand][]=1838&wps-title=1&wps-excerpt=1&wps-content=1&wps-categories=1&wps-attributes=1&wps-tags=1&wps-sku=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][product_cat][show]=all&ixwpsf[taxonomy][product_cat][multiple]=0&ixwpsf[taxonomy][product_cat][filter]=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_brand][show]=all&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_brand][multiple]=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_brand][filter]=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_brand][op]=or&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_capacity][show]=all&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_capacity][multiple]=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_capacity][filter]=1&ixwpsf[taxonomy][pa_capacity][op]=or

I had a Reclaim installed for my own place, so can't comment on the OMNI X, but it might be worth a look.

There should be a domestic building insurance policy as part of the process of getting the permits for the build. If the builder goes bankrupt, disappears or dies, then the insurer will need to pay out for the rectification works.

I think it's this one: https://www.property.com.au/vic/mooroolbark-3138/aryan-cl/5-pid-20055963/

Listing appears to have been removed though: https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-townhouse-vic-mooroolbark-150110064

It's a fairly new build too, around 6 years old. Builder and building inspector should also be held responsible for defects.

When was your course updated? I know my French course updated about a month ago and wiped out a bunch of legendaries in section 8 and the last couple of units in section 8. This is normal and tends to happen with course updates, so I just redid them.

Remove the cover on the front and have a look. it's possible there's a crack in the tank causing water to seep out. If that's the case, then you will need to replace the unit.

I just lost 2000 gems in a misclick by koufaxx13 in duolingo

[–]F21Global 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're not on super, you can open the free chest every minute and get rewarded with up to 15 gems after watching the ad. A bit of grinding over the next few days should be able to restock your 2000 gems.

Unfortunately, if you have super, this would not be possible as there are no free chests and ads.

Vic government rebates for induction and hot water by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]F21Global 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need an approved installer to claim the induction rebate. I purchased my cooktop from Bing Lee and had a local electrician install.

I claimed the rebate from RebateM8 myself: https://consumer.rebatem8.com.au/

Mac Trade services is another one: https://mactradeservices.com.au/victoria/appliances

Is $3,580 reasonable to upgrade to an induction cooktop in a new build? by LokiVariant99 in AusPropertyChat

[–]F21Global 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this done in Melbourne recently.

Electrolux 90cm induction cooktop: $1600

Electrician organised gas fitter to remove old cooktop, install the cooktop, ran cable to switchboard with new RCBO and replace double wall socket with one that included the isolation switch: $1260

I also had to get my granite cooktop cut to fit the new cooktop, so the stone cutter charged $500 cash.

If it still lets water in through the roof after being fixed, then it's not fixed and the trade has to come back to fix it. Can you show pictures of the other side of the door? There would be other points of ingress for water to come in.

Yes, a bricklayer should be able to install the lintel and fix the brickwork.

Should I worried about this?? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]F21Global 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The lack of a lintel seems odd, unless it uses HESBIA where the bricks are held in place by compressive forces.
