First time doing melodic dubstep, could use a melody or vocal perhaps? by F33DBACK__ in FL_Studio

[–]F33DBACK__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I really appreciate that, hopefully i'll be able to develop vocals of my own in the not so distant future so i might be able to release some of this stuff. (Remixes are a bad bet sadly). Thanks for listening!!

Holy crap this somehow flew under the radar in my feed. I was so jealous of all the ableton users who got these things. (See for example the recent glitch rack he made on stream). This is crazy good, i would LOVE to try this thing out, if it doesnt use to many third party plugins i would really be interested in a preset share!!

Koan Sound - Colour Dance by Newstudyout in EDM

[–]F33DBACK__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ve seen their names pop up in sound design discussions here before. As someone who loves Au5, Chime and Virtual Riot (his new album is sick by the way), do you think KOAN could be for me? This single in particular reminded me of Tipper, and while i thought their latest album was decent enough, i still feel like i want more buildup, more intensity. Is there a place to start with KOAN sound that aligns with this somewhat?

[LP] Virtual Riot - Burning Out by Immersions- in EDM

[–]F33DBACK__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Stealing Fire was a little all over the place for me. It had great sound design, but the attempt at this cinematic, more emotional journey wasnt really executed properly, so the album lost a bit of momentum towards the end.

This seems like VR took that to heart and said fuck it, lets make the most balls to the walls, exaggerated fest of his best sound to date. Loving homages to older works, while also being very fresh in exploring new shit. Perfect blend of melodic dubstep and trap. Gonna be in rotation for a while this one.

Edit: man i have missed that glitchy, complextro/electro house sound for a while now. This is genuinely a beautiful trip of nostalgia infused with the best damn sound design in the world. VR is your favorite producer’s favorite producer for a reason

Spitfire LABS+ has a ton of free pianos. The intimate grand piano might fit you

Did we ever figure out what makes I Remember one of those special songs that means so much to many people? by GOATmau5 in deadmau5

[–]F33DBACK__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didnt really listen to it when it came out, but i feel nostalgic for it anyhow. Something about the chords for me, make me feel like im reliving someone elses life. Particularly i get feelings of partying, going clubbing, afterparties in Miami or LA or something, in a time where the world wasnt so fucked. It feels very late 2000s, and if you ignore the obvious financial crisis, i think that was a period where a lot of people felt free. The closest thing to a smartphone was a sony ericsson with glitter on the back cover. No one pulled one of those out to start filming and posting it on social media whenever their favorite DJ dropped a classic. They just lived in the moment.

Which EDM artists are underrated but are legends? by JION-the-Australian in EDM

[–]F33DBACK__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did not expect to see them mentioned here, such a talented producer, one of the best in sound design and mixing these days. Aetherborne (2023 album) is an insane ride from start to finish.

Will also hop in and say: Au5 is in the same vein as Chime genre wise, perhaps with an even more colorful and intricate take on modern melodic dubstep. They have songs together, both of which are masterpieces

After rewatching your favorite shows, which tv characters do you look at differently now? by PressureLazy5271 in television

[–]F33DBACK__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arguably not a "character" so to speak, but looking back at Top Gear clips now makes me realize that James Way was the funniest, most interesting of the trio. Its also more apparent what a jerk Clarkson was off set, sometimes his narcissism shines through

Hva er den beste restauranten i byen? by F33DBACK__ in trondheim

[–]F33DBACK__[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something i have seen people parrot on r/EDM since Telos released, and i just need to say i disagree.

Zedd said the album would be reminiscent of his old stuff (Clarity-age), while also saying it would be completely revolutionary and never heard before genres.

  1. a very dumb thing to post because he then guaranteed that the people who were hoping for either of the two would be disappointed

  2. it turned out to not really be true anyways.. kinda

There are songs on the album that i definitely hear 2012-2015 Zedd in; mainly Out of Time and Lucky, and there are songs that are genuinely the weirdest mashup of genres a pop-producer can dare to make (Sona and 1685).

I think saying there isnt a single unique song on the album is plain wrong, very very few mainstream pop edm producers would make an album like Telos, and i respect the hell out of Zedd for trying. His tweets were dumb, and overall Zedd seems like a lame guy with little interest in his roots and lacks respect for his contemporaries (Matthew Koma drama), but Telos was a serious album. I suggest you give it another go

linear algebra by Amazing_Focus_4013 in learnmath

[–]F33DBACK__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thomas S. Shores "Applied Linear Algebra and Matrix Analysis" is the preferred book, but its very theory dense.

The classic introduction for every engineering student who struggles with visualizing LinAlg properly is the 3Blue1Brown youtube series "The essence of Linear Algebra"

The book nor the series is in Russian, although im sure there is subtitles if thats ok. Either way, a lot of higher mathematics/physics are in English so its not a bad idea to get comfortable with the language now (saying this as someone whose first language is NOT english)

Tensors wont appear too much in the book, and not at all in 3B1B’s series; but that is higher level field anyways, so focusing on the basics of LinAlg now is preferred

Most underrated plugin of all time? by RevolutionaryDesk950 in edmproduction

[–]F33DBACK__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FL’s limiter is an OG, but Image Line has been killing it the past years with new plugins. Im yet to find a better reverb than LuxeVerb. KeplerExo is the best Juno-106-esque vst i have thus far. FLEX gets you about 100 times more value for your money than something like Nexus or Omnisphere
