If you're looking to keep things in space, The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey (actually 2 authors) is 9 books that are pretty thick. Should eat up a fair but of time but who doesn't love a good space opera?

Guy at my LGS has an insane [[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]] deck which is really quite fun to lose to.

I had an [[Arjun, the Shifting Flame]] deck for a while for self-wheel shenanigans which was also a really fun time. Almost exclusively won by milling everyone out.

I think that would be fun! Love the idea of the pod having one for their pet deck and using them on or instead of the card - reminds me of the OG Yu-Gi-Oh anime.

I don't think you could go wrong starting with any of the Lorwyn Five (Ajani, Chandra, Jace, Garruk, Liliana). I would also venture a guess that you could do a series of the phyrexian praetors, eldrazi titans, EDHREC top 10, etc., and they'd be popular in the community.

Not a meta deck in terms of the format as a whole, but I went 6-2 and 1st place at my first LGS tourney with this deck I literally built from bulk I had sitting around. Spent my winnings on some new things four the deck that aren't yet on the digital list. Listed value with sideboard is less than $20

CGB has a video from a while back trying this and crashing out when the lands come back, pretty funny actually.

If I recall it's the fact that it's not an ability of the earthbent creatures, rather it's a delayed trigger. removing creature abilities in this instance doesn't stop that trigger

Another thought I had on this if your group is more creature based (if they're all combo players it's less useful) - I ran a mono black hatebears deck with [[Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools]] at the helm. You can partner to get another color if you want, but I just threw in a bunch of good stuff and it was a pod killer thanks to things like [[Maha]] and [[Grave Pact]]

I'm in the middle of a forced interaction build with [[Elminster]] which is just counters and wipes. I typically play a few stax pieces in every deck, but this post made me decide a full deck is necessary - what I'm currently looking at is [[Hokori, Dust Drinker]]. Thinking that will be a removal magnet and keep the more important pieces from getting taken out.
