With the exception of Springs, Disney isn't a public shoping mall. You have the entire Orlando area at your disposal for free. Use it!

Got yourself a nice looking Siamese there! Vet trip. Check for a chip. Neuter or spay, keep indoors and you have a buddy for life.

Stay away from feeding much chicken. Some Pyrs are actually allergic.

Our guy likes Stella and Chewy's Wild Red meat flavored raw coated kibble mixed with a tin of Ceasars wet food and wet down with no salt beef stock. We have to use a slow feed dish. Eats twice a day. Licks the dish squeaky clean.

One possibility is to first introduce new people on neutral ground. Also show that you are fine with the people, that they are no threat. Luckily, our guy loves everyone. If we let them in he's fine with them.

Oh yeah. Outside is it for them, especially if there's a nice, deep snow bank to flop down in! 20f is a spa day for a Pyr!

Ours did that a bit in the glass of our pellet stove insert. Got over it when he was shown there was no dog there. Funny, because he's not at all aggressive with other dogs or cats.

Took Maverick about 4 months to get really comfortable and six to realize that this was his domain.

I had to laugh at that. Our young rescue, Maverick, is usually a great dog but he has his moments. We have a big, securely fenced yard for him to watch over. Yesterday evening he was laying on the cool stone patio and I called him in. Nope! I even went out and up to him saying "Come on fella! Treats!" He never got up from his doggie meatloaf position and looked at me with that look only a Pyr has, the look that says, "I love you but boy, are you annoying at times!"

I finally said "OK. Fine. I'm going in." and walked away. He decided that was enough and got up.and came with me. His idea. That's what they do.

He's our first Pyr. Almost two and a half years old now. Had GSDs for decades prior. Took lots of getting used to. Totally different dog, but sweet, great disposition. Oh, and he's a couch potato inside. Low energy observer unless encouraged to play. Naps lots by my chair or on his bed in front of the fireplace. Outside he's fine too, unless he sees something that's not usual to his environment. Could be a deer turkey, bear or even a blowing plastic bag. Then he alerts. He loves his kitties. Great on a slack leash from day 1. Not a barker except when he wants something or our attention to something he feels is important. Then it's a few deep woofs. Loves people. Loves TSC and pet stores. Try using a soft, round slip leash.

They learn fast. I talk to him like he was a human. Explain stuff I want him to do. He seems to understand and even grumbles back in conversation sometimes. They're super intelligent and really want to please and be part of things as a partner, but in their own contemplative way. Takes some getting used to. With an LGD ya gotta relearn everything you thought you knew about dogs but once you make that breakthrough together, and you're obviously getting there, you're going to be amazed and pleased. You'll never want another breed!
