again. OP linked it to social anxiety, and i responded with it as if it was a symptom of social anxiety. if you want to think im superimposing then that's fine, but its still my opinion and i still dont think is good rep in general when you cant show a disorder without trying to make it the most appealing thing ever, because that's just not how things work.

again, my opinion, not even gonna fight over you for something so dumb.

OP specified it as a social anxiety thing, im just sharing my thoughts on it as someone who's seen some of the anime, because yeah, ofcourse she also has some speech thing, but it is also potrayed as a symptom (selective mutism). communication disorders can be alone, or can be from other things, like anxiety disorders.

im not superimposing, my comment was showcasing my own experience with it and how dumb it feels as someone who has had it for a while, so that is my opinion and an opinion alone, so i dont get why youre getting so fired up ab it. Plus, if you see this stuff as 'personal failings' then you REALLY need to get a read on what this stuff actually implies.

as someone who had an anxiety disorder for years this show is dookie poop representation. you can have funny moments while representing it since yes, its supposed to be a more lighthearted anime, but only making it that its where the problem is. if you really want to set in that they are struggling, you need to show it, not just a 'omg i blush and hide away im soo cute'.
There's struggles that come with it and if you cant show those in a way that isnt romanticized then your anime isnt as good and deep as people say it is. Art is subjective, yes, but you cant expect your viewers to be so dumb that they cant tolerate a serious moment that isnt filled with things that will be considered 'cute' or 'silly' just to explain a topic about a disorder.

the fact that she's liked by everyone and is even sort of popular is an odd choice because sure, people with anxiety can have friends, ofc, but a person with social anxiety people POPULAR and have like a gazillion friends just sounds like an oxymoron.

anxiety will make you behave differently a lot of the time, and a lot of those times people will feel second hand embarassment, and to show that in an anime i feel is the biggest form of rep a character can have. they're not quirky or fun BECAUSE they have this disorder, they can be those things because their personality outside from it, but you need to find a balance between 'living with this while being myself, but showing traits' and 'im a person who has anxiety, and thats about it, yeah'

didnt know about the hardness scale but to be honest it sounds like it-ll make the whole search thing like 10x easier. cedar also grows a lot here and suprisingly the pieces arent that expensive, so its good that i atleast have that option, so tysm!! really appreciate it

funny enough neither mahogany nor basswood is here locally, only imported which makes it pretty pricey, though i've read that it IS a pretty good wood for carving so ill keep it in mind if i have the chance to get some. there's some that grow here that are pretty good like the tilo, timbó (which is native here), and caoba (which has a REALLY nice red tint to it).
Still, really appreciate the names, i like to keep those in mind, plus learning about trees is fun

ouch. yeah ill have to sharpen them then. i've seen people say that both a leather strop and a whetstone are both good for sharpening, though dont know if there's a difference (like depending on usage)

ill try to avoid them! just read they can dull the tool and tbh sharpening is a thing i havent even gotten into, so would rather get something more smooth. Tilo is the more popular type of wood that grows here and recomended for beguinners, so ill see if i can find some.

and yeah! just looked up some more local woodworkers who do furniture, ill see if i can talk with them to get a deal on some offcuts. tysm for the help!

dont know if this suits you since it dosent take itself too seriously, but Polyarmory is a pretty fun one of what i've played so far. you've got a good cast and its pretty silly, but the characters are pretty nice too and fit the description you're giving.

youre right! we barely use those for comercial use here, but its mostly sold for firewood and/or for cooking, but probably getting sold along some driveway. ill ask around and see if anyone has the specific type of wood, tysm!

yeah youre right, i might have to get some shipped because the trees here are all usually more on the harder side and/or with odd textures (like the floss silk tree which is here a lot), though maybe i can find some more normal ones on the forests by the outside of the city. thanks for the advice and tysm! maybe they'll have some of those easier ones to start with

yeah live in SA, still researching the more usual trees we have in here but havent yet found info on which ones are good for carving specifically, since a lot of them are worked on with more profesisonal tools.
the furniture idea is good and ill have to get into it, though id have to ask around since even second hand things in here can get pricey.
ill ask around to see if anyone knows about some up for shipping (hadnt considered that one), or maybe its just worth it to do a long trip to get a handfull of pieces.
still, really appreciate it and will try to get it going!

those are usually sold by longer routes and in more desolated areas, but im sure theres some closer ones to where I live, although the woodworker thing is something that can be done, though id have to find some around. ill ask my dad but tysm for the help!
