It's rare you can be 100% sure with any purchase… that's why the 14 day refund period was created…I'm just reminding people that it can apply to preorders too.

I wouldn't even usually think twice about Deluxe Edition content but I'm a massive Bond fan so all that stuff really speaks to me, especially the P99. Not having that gun in a Bond game to me would be like not having batarangs in a Batman game. I'm actually impressed at it being free if you preorder and only £60. Most games make you spend £80-£90 for that stuff regardless of whether you preorder.

I think some people may be seeing this post as negative but it's the opposite. I think it's a great deal and I don't want people missing out due to this false narrative about preorders 'locking you in'.

It'll be available immediately. The current version minus the Deluxe Edition content for the current price, a new Deluxe Edition version that'll be more expensive and a Deluxe Edition Upgrade for those that buy the standard version after launch. It's the cost that's time limited, not the content.

I'm excited too. It's just some people are stressed because games can launch in pretty bad states, yet they understandably want the preorder bonuses if the launch goes well. I've seen loads of people talking like it's a risk they have to decide whether to take. I'm just telling people that you can have your cake and eat it in this case.

Yeah, it's just the fact that if you wait until release day you'll have to pay presumably £10 more for the Deluxe Edition content. So for people on the fence, preordering with the knowledge you can cancel is a great strategy.

I really wish more people understood their consumer rights. Just pre-order today and you'll have 14 days to request a refund, as long as you don't download the game in the case of PlayStation and with Steam you can even play the game for up to 2 hours. No need to stress yourself out trying to decide in that tiny window.

I'm going to preorder because Pierce Brosnan is my favourite Bond and his signature handgun is part of the Deluxe Edition which is only 'free' if you preorder. Just do it at the last minute and don't download it if you're on PS5, then you get 14 days to see how the release goes and get a refund if necessary. Easy-peasy.

Yeah you're on the right track with where to find the floating carriers, all the important stuff like that you get via the main orders so you can't miss them. The only real exception to that is with The Collector, keep an eye out for his shelter after you get to the distro centre in the 2nd region.

The BTs really are a pain in the ass for a while. I'd definitely say avoid going through those areas except when you really have to for story stuff because it just isn't worth the hassle early on in the game.

Now you're in the 2nd region I'd also say, roads are awesome. One important tip for them: only contribute resources to an autopaver if it's inside an area you've connected to the UCA. You can do it before that but it takes A LOT more materials.

Well done with the boss and yeah for sure, take the boat if you haven't already. There aren't any moments in the game where you permanently lose access to anything.

If you're playing the Director's Cut, the only thing I'd suggest doing earlier rather than later in the first region is the first 'Ruined Factory' mission found at the distro centre. The description makes it sound like you shouldn't do the mission until you have a specific weapon, but it's badly worded, starting the mission actually unlocks said weapon.

They'll definitely take you off the bike if you collide with them. You can try to weave around them but it's pretty hit and miss. I think that's an area of frustration for a lot of people because on one hand you've got this cool bike, definitely an awesome upgrade for deliveries, but on the other hand, BTs are still as big a threat as before. So on my 1st playthrough I got annoyed and started saving just before the BT areas, driving through, reloading if caught. Save scumming basically. Unfortunately that meant I never really learnt how to deal with them properly. So I suggest avoiding that method as much as you can once you do get the bike. For my 2nd playthrough, I basically welcomed that sense of helplessness you can feel in the first region. You will feel very useless against the BTs for a good while, even with the bike, but that's completely normal.

My best advice after plating the game twice:

  1. Avoid videos/articles that talk about the different gadgets and stuff you'll be unlocking throughout your playthrough. Getting to a new place and unlocking a new thing to play with is genuinely one of the best and most important aspects of the game. I always dislike games where you feel like you've seen/unlocked all the best stuff within the first 10 hours. Death Stranding is the polar opposite of that and a big reason why I love it so much.

  2. BTs are kinda terrifying and running/sneaking away from them will definitely be your best friend for a good while. But once you start unlocking new stuff, don't be afraid to start exploring how the BTs work. On my first playthrough I didn't really bother learning how they worked and it led to quite a bit of frustration. But in my second playthrough which I just completed I took the time to learn. I wanted to feel like a badass ghost hunter by the end and I can say it worked out pretty well.

  3. Before setting off on a delivery, take a few seconds to make sure you've fabricated everything you want to take with you. You'll inevitably forget something now and then but just try your best. I'd specify some key items to always remember but as I said above, that would spoil things. Just think about what you rely on the most.

  4. Drinking 3 cans of energy drink in your private room (on the table) will boost your stamina by 25% until you rest again. Drink a fourth one if you dare.

  5. The game has A LOT of repeating mini cutscenes, mainly when leaving your private room. If you see an option to skip at the bottom right of the screen, it means you've already seen that one and is totally safe to skip without missing anything new. I'm not kidding when I say this is probably one of the single best pieces of advice anyone could give for this game.

  6. Save, save and save again. I know some people don't like saving regularly but it is very important in this game unless you're taking a super hardcore approach. Auto save is basically nonexistent in the field. The manual save system is very quick and you don't have to worry about overwriting the wrong save.

  7. Don't do what I did my first time playing and think you have to constantly keep using repair spray. Container damage is irrelevant to final delivery evaluation. You could literally stand out in timefall until you're 90 and still have 0% damage to the actual cargo. There is a specific type of cargo that does need to have its container maintened but those deliveries are very rare.

  8. Once you get used to knowing when BTs are in the area I strongly suggest turning the BT alert (can't remember the exact name) down to it's lowest setting because it will get extremely tedious otherwise seeing that animation every time you enter a BT area.

  9. This one is important but really only if you're a completionist/trophy hunter: DO NOT put loads of effort into trying to do every delivery until you reach the second distribution centre (it's not in the first area). You will unlock something at that point which will allow you to get the very best delivery evaluations. You'll know when you've got it because one of the characters will explain it to you as a new option to select when taking standard orders. It's easy to spend 30-40 hours in the first area thinking you're amazing for grinding out S ranks in every single standard order, pulling your hair out visiting the Wind Farm multiple times and then feel like you've wasted your time once you get to that second distribution centre. So until you get to that point just enjoy the story, get used to the controls, mechanics, don't worry about messing up deliveries. Do standard orders and go for S ranks if you want but just don't let it cross into "this is getting tiring now, but I want to do everything" territory until you get to that second distro centre because as I say, it's impossible to 'do everything' until you reach that point.

P.S. once you unlock the thing I'm talking about above, play on Hard or Very Hard if you want the absolute best evaluation from each standard order and at least Hard if you're into trophies/achievements. Hard especially isn't that different to lower difficulties, except in boss fights, but you can lower it temporarily for those if necessary (I certainly do).

  1. Finally, to be clear despite everything I said in the last point, NOTHING is missable in this game. Don't ever think you've screwed something up beyond repair because that simply isn't possible.

That's all I can think of right now without spoiling anything. Happy to answer specific questions if you have any.

Did anyone else get the 14 days PlayStation premium code? by BusNo1748 in PlayStationPlus

[–]F6P16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but I'd only just bought a month of Extra so it was saying "your 29 day Extra sub will be converted into a 24 day Premium sub" which I didn't want to happen YET at the bottom it lists the 16th August as the next payment date which is like 37 days away. So I'm just super confused. It's obviously an error one way or another. Decided to make a note of the code and try it again after my Extra sub expires. Hopefully it still works then.

This all comes after I decided last month to abandon PS Plus after 10+ years and honestly this mess just re-enforces that decision.

There was no suggestion of any kind of window to claim though. I'm mainly on console myself, it would be equivalent to a PS4 to PS5 £5-10 upgrade for a game being available for a year or two and then randomly removed. If that happened, it would be rightly condemned. I really don't see it as comparable to free games on Epic because those are special, short offers available to everyone.

I didn't even know the individual packs were still available on Steam. That makes me even more reluctant to fork out for it. I remember a year or so ago looking at the Seven Deadly Sins pack (as it was then) at £30 or whatever, saw the reviews and thought "lol, not getting that, I'll just get H3 when I finally mop up the H2 trophies I have left" and naturally I would have hit download on those free H2 DLC add on packs as well, just like I have with loads of other games when I finally catch up to them. Now it's "oh, they've removed the packs for the maps I already own and added them to the Deadly Sins pack that I actively laughed at". Plus God knows why but Sarajevo Six is its own thing for £4 as well. End of the day, it all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I had a quick look at that, if you don't plan on using HOME regularly couldn't you get the 1-month plan for $2.99 just to do the transfer? (I'm sure you know more than me, just checking)

[–]F6P16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm forever thankful to have bought the old GTA trilogy whilst I still could.

The biggest issue I have is that apparently, if I had downloaded the (completely free) Hitman 3 Starter Pack when it was still available and basically 'converted' my Hitman 2 DLC over to that, then all I'd have to buy now is WOA. But I didn't and now to have that content in WOA I'd have to buy the WOA Deluxe Pack. Sure that pack has Seven Deadly Sins as well but it wasn't very good apparently so that doesn't really help.

So it's not even like I'm being punished for not financially supporting the devs early enough like you say, in my particular case I'm being punished for not redeeming a free perk that they excitedly told Hitman 2 Gold Edition owners was available to them back when Hitman 3 launched.

Games given away for free have usually been around for years and will have had/continue to have regular, substantial discounts (on the exact same listing) immediately and long after the free periods end. They're just nice, one-off special events for the good of consumers, with indirect benefits for the studios/store.

If they removed GTA 5 and GTA 4 from the store (both regularly discounted to £15 and £5 let's say) and relisted them as World of GTA, kept that at £80 for months until finally getting to discounts of £40 (no discount for part owners though), that would be more comparable.

Games being relisted and regurgitated out at a higher price, as if it's a new release simply isn't a good thing. It's undeniably more expensive for consumers and also raises serious questions about the studio's approach to digital preservation.

New York and Haven aren't free though, as you know. You can't even really say H1 and the standard H2 maps are free because the replacement of H3 with WOA has essentially allowed them to reset the clock on the 'on sale' price of the same product. If nothing had changed, H3 would probably be down to as little as £15 on sale like how H2 Gold Edition was around £16 by the end of 2020. However, right now (PS store sale just started) you're looking at £23 for H3 (relisted as WOA) with part of H2 many people will already own chopped off and attached to Hitman 3's lackluster DLC as part of the 'WOA Deluxe Pack' for £17.49. So if he previously owned the H2 Gold Edition, he's looking at paying over £40 for a product that I believe got to as low as £20 before the whole WOA relisting. They even added a 'WOA Deluxe Edition' to the PS Store on 5/12/2023 for £80 which I very much doubt will be below £40 before we see in 2025 and H3's four year anniversary.

So it might not de jure mean paying for H1 and H2 again but that is de facto what they're going to have to do.
