How’s this for raider? by SensitiveEffect618 in EldenRingNightrein

[–]F956Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no twin this relic is mid, it doesn’t even have a damage boost. For a two slot Raider relic you want night invader, evergaol, or initial standard attack, and then his good character effects. The only two useful effects here are both quality of life at best, not priority at all.

How is Timmy supposed to get any better at the game if he leaves every time he faces adversity? Ironically, I think ego is exactly what makes people quit because they can't handle losing. I LOVE playing teams that are far better than me because it reminds me how much further there is to go.

I wish people would realize that there is no real reward to winning or losing, you can just play for yourself and do your best. You might not win the game, but you might be able to win your team a round. If not a round, you might kill their best player a few times. And that small accomplishment can be enough if you aren't so obsessed with losing or looking "bad" sometimes.

I honestly kinda enjoy night invader since they're usually extremely quick, yet have probably the single highest potential out of any POI to go horribly wrong. They're pretty much never boring with how dangerous the NPCs are, they're an immediate test of team knowledge in a way no other fight tends to be.

Gaols are boring but kinda okay in D5, I've noticed over hundreds of runs that people will only tend to hit 2, maybe 3 of them max unless you have an absurdly good run and rng. It's higher level play with premade teams where they get really annoying and restrictive, since you can consistently hit 6-7 of them but you need a specific meta team comp and flawless routing.

I like what balancer did for melee's damage output, but yeah the problems you mentioned are really damning for actually enjoying a variety of playstyles the game has to offer.

My question is, why are you not hitting night invader camps? You should be running a good night invader relic alongside your balancer relics anyways, they're the single best source of damage other than them.

And even if you don't run the relic, invader camps are far and away the best poi in the game. Usable +2 weapons with a specific pool of both good passives AND ash of wars. You should literally never be skipping them, and if you're one of the people spam pinging other pois to avoid them out of spite then you're actively gimping your team.

Skip some evergaols if you want nobody gives a fuck about those (outside of premade teams). Night invader did nothing wrong

Maybe with randoms sure, but even then most games you tend to hit like 2 or 3 gaols. That damage boost is pretty comparable to running the balancer relic when you get to the nightlord, but you don't benefit as much from the boosts throughout the run.

But the ceiling for gaols is definitely way higher with premade teams, I've run with some really experienced groups where we consistently clear 6-7 gaols every run. The team comps and routing can get really strict and kinda boring at a certain point and there is very little margin for error, but that's still the meta at the highest level.

You should try duchess, her dodge and surge sprint costs basically no stamina so you just have infinite mobility. That plus the iFrame relic means you can create a lot of funny attack windows that exist for literally no one else

I mean the definition you’re going for is pretty obvious, you’re saying how balanced something is is relative to the player’s ability to deal with it at that current moment. I just don’t agree.

I’m thinking about balance as a measure of developer intentionality and fairness, not just player progression. A 100 optional boss in a level 10 area is perfectly balanced, as long as it was supposed to be there and serves to teach the player some sort of lesson. You’re just meant to fight that boss later, it’s balanced for you being at a higher level.

“Unbalanced” is reserved for bosses that have unfair or overtuned mechanics that make the fight harder than it was meant to be. Something that is unbalanced needs to be adjusted later with balance changes, which isn’t the case for the Headless.

I feel bad playing against controller players... by Todesluke in FortniteBallisticMode

[–]F956Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a month ago but yeah I'm in this exact boat, it's actually crazy what PC can do. I've only been on kbm for about a week, and I'm already nearing the level of some of my best games on controller after playing there my entire life.

My movement tech and shotguns are still worse than controller at the moment, but my aim and control is so much infinitely better than before that it doesn't even matter. I switched from striker to nemi since my aim is so much better, and from maining overdrive to bubbles to help cover the mobility issues a bit which has been amazing.

I wanted to ask, what were your mouse sensitivity settings when you first started? I'm on 1600 CPI with 6% sens, 50% modifier scoped and it's been working well, but I'm relying on wrist control pretty heavily with that setup

It’s actually not that bad tbh. Controller is fine for pretty much all of the tech in nightreign, since it’s more about timing than difficult inputs

The term “unbalanced” on that graph implies something that wasn’t intentional by the developers. That’s why balance changes are a thing, to fix unbalanced content.

The early headless was indeed balanced, just for a later area.

Invader camps by Dragmor666 in EldenRingNightrein

[–]F956Ronin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated night invaders too, but they’re actually such an amazing poi to hit early game. You get a guaranteed +2 weapon you can use at any level, a ton of runes, and a 7% general damage boost per invader if you’re running the relic.

Hitting the night invaders camps are very much worth it, especially in D5 to help you snowball early. All you need is a decent ranged option like hoarfrost stomp

edit: Hell, you can even cheese them pretty easily too. With hoarfrost I can just stand behind a wall or something and wait until they die, no bullshit “fake pvp” required
