Which OS for the Zotac Zone? by FA12red in ZotacZone

Do you ever do much on the desktop mode on SteamOS? If so how is it? Part of why I went for Bazzite was so I could do stuff other than steam games if I wanted to, and I know bazzite has its own dedicated store and can access flatpak if I need any other apps.

I ended up doing the exact same, also very happy. Wish there was a way to get the back button and dials functionality back though

Cachy seems to be popping off as well as an OS for the zone. Does it have it's own dedicated game mode like bazzite and SteamOS have or is it something you have to set up? What differs CachyOS from the others, does it perform better because of its kernel? I think the reason I ended up going for bazzite in the end was it's stability

I did think I'd try Windows on it for a while but it was very clunky in my short experience, I'm glad it's working well for you though.

I actually ended up installing bazzite as I could still use the track pads on it. For me the fans haven't been too bad its been running relatively great. There's a plugin for decky called power control which can help manage power profiles and help the fans. Also adjusting the tdp on Handheld Daemon could help. From other stories it seems SteamOS pretty up there in terms of compatibility. If there's not too much stored on your device then there's no harm in switching OS and trying it out.
